Does this distance seem possible with my swing speed

Recommended Posts

Just got back from an indoor track man session and killed a few drives. I just don’t know if it’s possible with only 112mph swing speed. I also hit a few other one around 315-325 but I’m usually 280-290 Any input would be greatly appreciated

Total distance 351.7

Carry 313.4

Club speed 112.2

Ball speed 165.3

Smash 1.47

Club path -3.3

Face angle -.2

Face to path 3.1

Attack angle -2.9

Spin rate 3060

Launch angle 11.1

@"p.winkowski" Was it a fitting, or just an indoor golf place? Using your own, known equipment?

I mean, you can certainly make a ball go over 3 bills with 110+ SS, just depends on your setup, but if you are usually around 280-290 and all a sudden it’s carrying 10% longer on only a few swings, i’d Probably chalk that up to a algorithmic anomaly, especially if it’s your own gear that you KNOW carries 280-290...seems like we are pretty similar in speed and carry...not quite 280-290 on this particular driver, but on lower lofted stiffer setups that’s where I’m at.

Hitting a 10.5* epic flash with a HZRDUS smoke black 6.0 60g got these #s (don’t mind some of the inconsistent ones, I don’t play enough to have any level of consistency in my game!). Should have had a stiffer shaft in play and a 9deg, but they didn’t have it for me to demo at the moment.

You can get close to 300 with 112, but it would take near perfect numbers to get there and 300 I think would be the absolute max you could squeeze out of 112. More than likely you'd probably be looking at around 275-285 depending on what your numbers were.

For the numbers you posted, no, I don't think there's any way you could get remotely close to 300. Your angle of attack is -3 and your spin was over 3000. I'm no expert, but I'd guess you'd be closer to 260 or so carry with those. To get remotely close to 300, you'd need to have a positive angle of attack (like 4-5) and have the spin be down sub 2000 along with a 1.50 smash.

I think indoors, Trackman can give you incorrect numbers because it needs a decent amount of distance to get accurate numbers and most places don't have that distance inside. They've got you hitting into a net right in front you (though I don't know how yours was set up).

FWIW, my swing speed is around 112-113 (was just on Flightscope a week ago). Majority of mine were 285 carry when I hit one well. That's with +3 angle of attack and 2400 spin average with 12 degree launch angle.

I think it is impossible. I know at 108 mph I had a bunch of grump's here doubt my 278 carry but sent the trackman / in flight #'s from Ping to prove it

My launch conditions were near perfect .. 14.5*, 2150 spin, +5 AoA, 1.5 smash etc etc

But your spin is way too high for that carry result

The general rule I use is 110 could get you 285 carry if all else is dead perfect

FWIW, In a different Trackman fitting at Titleist last fall I think I was just under 109 mph and carry was 274 ish

Maybe I am wrong, maybe the sim was juiced (downwind, or at altitude)

Happened to me once years ago at Edwin Watts in Orlando. Guy it telling me my ball speed is 185 (ya OK Chief) and I must be a long drive guy ... Craig Parry was in the sim beside me ... good times

Seems off to me but no idea what settings you have.

Things that seem off; ball speed a little on the low side for that carry, spin too high for that carry and launch too low for that carry. But I do all my hitting at around 100ft of elevation so ymmv.
