Vancouver Island (Parksville)suggestions?

So going to the island for the 1st time in a few weeks and will be able to play 1 round. The one that seems to my liking is Phesant Glen. Would anyone recommend it with only 1 round availability? I will have access to car but qont likely want to drive more than 60 minutes for a course unless it's highly suggested.

Are you staying in Parksville? If you are driving from Nanaimo, Nanaimo Golf Club is semi private. There are lots of courses in the area. I like Pheasant Glen; part links, part park. Other good courses are Morningstar, and Fairwinds. We had snow on the island and I’m not sure which one is open. Courses in Victoria are slowly getting back to 18 holes this week.

with one round in that area that’s the course I would pick. I’m a big fan of pheasant glen. Every time I go back home to the island in the summer I try and get atleast one round in there. I’ve played pretty much every course in that area and Nanaimo as well and that’s where I would go 9 times out of 10.

I too will second this. They have the best greens in the area....dare I say the island!Update: Played Pheasant Glen on the March 24th. Greens were awesome. Enjoy the round where ever it may be.

Yes, Pheasent Glen is real nice. If the weather is a little dicey when you come, the old Qualicum Memorial 9 hole course has the best drainage in the area. Morningstar is also very nice, if Pheasant glen is booked.

Don't know if this is too late, but...

My dad lives on Morningstar, and I talked to him a couple of days ago and he said the greens and fairways are in the best shape he has seen in awhile.

Have you been to the island yet? Which course did you end up playing? My favourite course in that area is Nanaimo Golf Club. It will test your game.

Is that Nanaimo golf club that nice? Anything comparable in Vancouver, is it at the Morgan Creek/Northview level? I just see the price is like $80 in the summer, so I always just keep on driving up north to Morningstar/Pheasent Glen.

It's not Morgan Creek/Northview Level, but it's in nice condition in the summer. The greens are tough, and three putts are common. I like Morningstar, but not a huge fan of Pheasant Glen.
