what trajectory is this? is more like the nv or nvs or something in between? went to the aldila website and they show that they are going to be releasing it in april but don't say anything about it.

Put the Aldila VS PROTO 80 - X in my R7 425 TP and am very happy I did. This shaft is very smooth and gives me a nice mid ball flight. My swing speed is 113 - 115 mph and the X-Flex fits it well. Not as firm as the Proforce V2 75 X-Stiff I have in my other R7, but ball flight is similar. If you have a smooth swing, I would suggest this shaft. If you have a quicker, more aggressive swing, I would go with a V2 75.

I have to say that this is one of the best new shafts out, and possibly one of the best shafts that i have hit in awhile.

I was persuaded to try one over my usual Pro 95 and was very happy with my choice, very smooth shaft and great feeling.

Will it replace all my P95's, doubt it, but it is a great shaft and if you don't have a favorite shaft, this would be a great place to start, i would highly recommend it in a fairway or hybrid, i have not heard of the same success in drivers yet.

JHR,

How would you compare the VS Proto 80 to the V2 86X? I just put the V2 86X in my 905R. Was expecting it might be boardy. But it actually feels very whippy. When I waggle the club, feels like a Regular flex. Think my clubmaker didn't insert to full bore-thru.

My favorite shafts have been the 757 and PM702. Both very solid feeling. The PM702 is a little lighter than I want to go, and I just have to think that I can find a newer-technology replacement for the 757.

Do you think the VS Proto 80 would be a good alternative to the V2 86X and launch a little lower?

Rob

One of the best low spin shafts today. Actually does what it says it should do.

Spins waaaayyyy too much for me,tried it in the new Ping Rapture and sky it.I don't know if their stock VS is the same as the aftermarket version but it did not work for me....

Its probably the head. I'm a high spin player and the VS Proto does not spin too much for me and belive me, I've tried more than my fair share of shafts.

WOW! I just received a tour issue idea pro 16 with a vs proto 95 x and it is outstanding. I was playing a tp dual 16 with diamana hybrid x and the adams is straighter and longer. The tm is about 2/3 of an inch longer than the adms which is 41" in my club. The tm has always been a hook machine for me and that is with a 14 in the toe and 2 in the heel. The adams blue by you 95x is dead straight and very boring into the wind. super impressive. I have played just about every hybrid out there and the adams blue by you combo is WOW!

Have found this shaft in driver at 65g to be spot on, but the heavier 85g shaft in fairway clubs tend to have (at least for me) a lower trajectory - not something one might expect out of a club that will be hit off the deck. A lighter shaft for fairway sticks will get the ball up easier. Still a great shaft. What have others found???

This is my take on these shafts in comparison, based on personal experience and info from one of the clubfitters I use.

VS proto in an xflex launches with quite a bit lower spin than the NV. Personally, I get a little higher launch with the VS, but definitely doesn't balloon. Have found that I can overload the shaft a bit easier in the vs than in the NV. The v2 IMHO has a much softer feel in comparable flex, and I tend to balloon it with the V2. I have a quicker tempo, and a delayed release, and the V2 felt extremely soft to flex. The NVS is quite a bit tip softer and provides higher spin and trajectory than the NV and VS proto. NVS is definitely designed for a little lower swing speeds and plays more tip soft than the prolaunch blue. The VS proto launches fairly similarly to the grafalloy blue x (not tour x), but with less of a but stiff feel.

VS proto is the closest thing I've hit feelwise to the blueboard, but may be a bit softer through the midsection, and the VS spins just a hair more.

I would love to see the butt, mid and tip stiffness on those shafts just to see if feel matches science.

Anybody have head to head comparison between the VS proto and the protopype?

I've been trying to get an answer to that one myself.
