ANyone find all the cellphones on tour annoying to watch . They should ban the phones on tour like they did years ago.

Fans with cell phones? I gotta be honest i pretty much never notice it when watching golf

For a spectator event, these guys are paid well enough to put up with a lot of things. It's annoying to see how addicted people are to their devices though. I had an assault take place at my school recently, and my security cameras showed about a dozen kids standing around taking pictures with their cell phones rather than alert staff what was going on. They were clueless about why they got in trouble for doing that and then posting to SnapChat.

I miss the 80's...

They have become so ubiquitous that I don't even notice them. Kind of like people in the galleries wearing caps. I'm old and still use a flip phone (the horror), but I know people who might as well have them grafted into their hands. The end of civil discourse.

It's fun to take a couple photos/videos at a tournament to share with friends. But every single shot, no thanks. I'd rather watch the golf and take in the memories. Phones can distract from that if you're one them all the time.

I have noticed a lot more of it with spectators at tournaments now, almost as bad as a concert.

Its their business and in no way distracts from anything. Watch the player not the fans.

They pay good money to watch the action through a tiny window. Bizarre behavior.

And who is going to watch a jerky clip of Jason Day swinging a club?

I would like to see a venue ban them, if only as a social experiment.

I get the phone thing, if you are stood on the tee and can get a picture or video of Tiger or Rory teeing off then that makes perfect sense. What I don't get is the guys that are stood there trying to get videos of players simply walking between green and tee. Totally pointless. No one wants to see that, not even your Facebook friends.

Don’t pay attention to the fans or the cell phones. To each their own and enjoy the event how you want

I'm pretty sure the Masters is about the only golf tournament there is where they can ban phones and not have a noticeable drop in attendance. Maybe the only sporting event in general. Cell phones are part of life now.

I remember going to a fireworks display last year. There were a couple of 11 or 12 year old kids recording the fireworks on their cell phones. I thought, why bother? Watching the sky was much better than watching the phone.

Heck, they do the same thing every 4th.

I’m all for the photo or two for the memory, but I’m a fan of watching more than capturing. 

Annoying to watch? No. Why would they be annoying to watch? That's like asking if people wearing sunglasses at tournaments are annoying to watch. Who cares.

They're not annoying to watch. The behavior is what's annoying. These people are addicted to watching things on their phone. 

This is one of the ultimate "Get off my lawn" posts ever. 

I have nothing constructive to add; as the current format blinds me if I look at the screen to type after 45 seconds.

if i ran the tournament, there'd be snipers all over with the most advanced pellet guns possible ... anyone getting a cellphone out would get popped in the butt first, then in the hand until they put it away ...

People fixate on the most inconsequential things.

You can tell who the millenials are and aren't on this thread.

To some the idea that standing 6 feet from Phil Mickelson in person then watching him thru a phone is the height of absurdity. And such absurdity that it is distracting, just as most of us would critically question (and rightfully distracted by) a person walking about our office with a carrot stick hanging out of his nose. Perfectly within their rights, and none of our business, but odd and bothersome nonetheless.

To others, it's how they grew up and not strange at all.

I will always have my memories of watching Jack and Arnie tee off,while I was less than 15 feet away

with an unobstructed view. Those memories are in my mind. There were no cell phones back then. I also have other memories and times from other venues with cell phone pics. The ones with the pics are no where near as valued to me as the others. The only difference is that I cannot pass along the ones while

the other will be there as long as someone wants to keep them. So,the cell phone pictures do

have that going for them.
