After 15 holes of duck hook drives, i snapped my driver over my knee. First time I have ever thrown a fit like that on a course, hopefully will be my last. Luckily I am in the market for a new driver anyway....

Soo embarrassing, at least I was playing solo.

I can’t afford to do that and my clubs know that so they hit the ball wherever they please.

Never done that, I have wanted to a few times, but always knew it wasn't the club's fault (and on top of that I'm cheap)

Did it feel good when you did it?

I was playing with my boss once and I hit a poor chip. While he was hitting his shot I put the offending club behind my head holding the grip in one hand and the clubhead in the other and went “arghhhhh”. At this point the shaft snapped causing the clubhead to swing around and strike me square in the forehead. Oh my... Shook my head, found my way to my bag somehow, put the offending club in my bag and grabbed my putter. As I putted out blood began to drip down my nose. In typical C Mac (my boss) style he just said: Whot whot whot is wrong with you?

Pretty embarrassing. For me that was an emotional outburst.

I haven't done that in several years. I finally grew up, I guess.

Breaking or tossing a club can provide  short lived satisfaction....until it comes time to buy its replacement.......

The best thing I ever saw was my best mate when we were 16 years old snapped one OB, he then smashed the front of his carry bag with his driver instantly snapping the head clean off. He was pissed off but stuffed the club back in his bag.

Get to the next hole and he asks to use my driver to which I just laughed so he reached for his 3 wood which came up with half a shaft (the driver hit snapped the 3 wood shaft on the previous hole), he then reached for the 5 wood and same story. I was literally on the floor laughing so hard.

To be fair they were a fake set of callaways but he finished the round with a 3 iron off the tee and saved up for a real driver after that.

Once I played with a guy I didn't know, he was added to our group as a single. On the FIRST hole he hit a bad iron shot. Snapped the thing over his leg and broke the metal shaft, which then stuck into his leg. There was a LOT of blood. Had to cart him to the clubhouse where they had to call an ambulance. What an idiot.

Back when all shafts were steel I did this a few times. Not my finest moments. The last time I did it was on the last hole of high school tryouts. Dunked 2 3w in the pond on the closing par 5 to miss the team. Snap goes the 3w. If I remember correctly both pieces ended up in the pond looking for the balls, lol.

I helicoptered a wedge in front of a newish friend once. What made me so mad was that I had been so good with wedges but I had started a slide with all of my irons about 2-3 months before this day. But on this day I didn’t hit a single good wedge either, and I was finally in a spot where a good wedge would have given me a birdie look. But of course I hit a poor shot, turned back toward the fairway and helicoptered the club as far as I could.

My friend looked at me like “Really?” and I instantly felt quite embarrassed. I retrieved the wedge and still have it today. Oddly, today was the first day since the day I described that I felt like my wedges were a strength again.

Oh, and I forgot that I broke a 6 iron shaft by slamming it into the ground at the range once. That also made me realize what a moron I can be sometimes.

When I was in my teens I broke my only club. Pitching wedge. Hit a bad shot or something, can't remember anymore. I threw the club perpendicular to the ground (as in right at the ground) instead of parallel. The shaft broke about 7-8 inches from the hosel and the part of the shaft with the head still attached bounced of the ground, flew back up at me, and skewered me right in the arm. Let me tell you that hurt and it bled like crazy.

That's the one and only time I've ever broken a club on purpose.

I have never understood the "explosive anger" associated with golf.

I've been disappointed plenty of times (having played terribly), but I have also been playing long enough to understand that one shot or one round doesn't define me as a player (or a person).

It's only a game. And it's a game best played when relaxed and at ease.

About a 190yrd par 3 a few yrs ago... buddy tees off. Shank. 3rd shot... Big hook OB. 5th shot, big topper that goes like 15 feet. Proceeds to go full nuke mode and launches said 4i into woods, never to be seen again. I'm not talking a little whimper toss, I'm saying a full blown 360 degree spinning Olympic discus style launch into orbit.

Was pretty epic, not going to lie.

Warning : I wouldn't break anything with a graphite shaft on purpose. Those things can splinter with power and seriously injure you or someone near by. Imagine if a splinter went in your eye. Some years ago some kid broke a driver on a fire hydrant and the splinter pierced his jugular and sadly he died.
