Dumbest mistake ever?

I tried out a new shafts in a set of Bridgestone J40's and did not like them much, so I decided to pop the old shafts back in. After several rounds. (I am embarrassed to say how many) I decided I should check my lofts and lies for changes, because I just could not hit them like I used to. Long, short, fat, thin, my consistency was a mess. Before I took them in, I lined them up with my other set, which had the same LLL, and I was appalled. Not only were my lies and lofts messed up, but 4 of my irons were now the wrong length!

You guessed it. I had swapped my 7 and 8 iron shafts and my 5 and 6 irons shafts when I reassembled them. Since I was just putting the old shafts back in, I did not bother with swing weighting or measuring since these were the original shafts from that set. I am more embarrassed about playing them for so long than I am for the mistake.

We all have been dumb. I tried pulling my first graphite shaft out by hand after burning the hell out of it with a torch. I remember it was like a noodle when I pulled on it.

1a. The time I re-shafted a set and put them aside for epoxy to cure. Next morning went to install grips and turn ferrules only to discover I forgot to install the ferrules altogether.

1b. Trying to remove an oversize putter grip using syringe/solvent and got careless, missed the grip and injected left thumb - very painful so won't be making that mistake again!

I built a set of irons for a customer that I had fitted. He was left handed and I built the set right handed. He picked an iron up and said awesome job. Shame I cannot play with them, I said what? He smiled and told me. I then built him a left hand set.

Ouch. Honest mistake. We just get going and the brain totally disengages.
