G400 Fairway Wood Shaft

I currently have the PING Tour 75x in my fairway wood. I feel like it's a little spinny at times which is one of the complaints I've read about the G400 fairway woods in general. For those that have the G400, what shafts have you had success with? I'm a plus handicap with a driver swing speed of 110-112. Usually carry 3 wood around 245 or so.

I would try some thing like the Hzrdus t1100 in a 75g.

Or the Aldila tour green atx.

Both are pricey shafts but will get some good preformance.

If on a budget try the 85g Hzrdus black

I am having the same issue with my G400 fairway wood and also use the Ping Tour 75x shaft. Did you have any luck with other shafts?

I did not. I guess I hit the Ping Tour 75X okay, but it just leaves something to be desired for me. Just doesn't feel quite right to me. I put a Kuro Kage XD 60TX in my G400 LST and wow, it's unreal. Best shaft I've ever hit. So, I'm currently looking for an XT (not XD) version to put in my 3 wood to see how it performs. The XD is supposed to be one of the lowest launching/spinning shafts on the market which doesn't really work well in a fairway wood that you're trying to carry into greens. My understanding is the XT is the same sort of profile as the XD but softer tip slightly higher launching so I hope it will give me the same feel as my driver but ability to hit it a little higher with a little more spin.

It is a head that spins a lot. Anything low/ low will work well. I would have liked to try it with a hzdus t1100 or the smoke green “hulk” shaft

I am a believer in getting the head that flies 99% the way you want and tweak it w shaft. Chasing shafts for a given head to get it to fly right be an expensive path - at least from my experience. 400 fairways spin a lot. I has them. TXG said they liked them for slower swing speeds but not optimal for fast. FWIW.

ping doesn't tip the fw 75 shaft unless requested. You sound like a 1-1.5" tip on that Tour shaft.

Now I have no means of how you load or your lag while swinging. 110 is pretty high, so I definitely see a heavier weight being a wise direction.

Just stating that 75 isn't tipped even a standard 1/2' 3wd top. They install straight in

Yeah it probably does need to be tipped, but I'm working on just getting that Kuro Kage XT since I love the XD so much. My XD is a TX tipped .5" so I'm sure the three would should be tipped at least an inch, maybe more. My swing speed now is around 115 or just a tad faster if I go after one. I've been gaining a lot of speed over the last year so that makes it even more of a chore to find a shaft.

Never tried the normal one. The tx was very smooth. Launched a bit high for me. The black would have been a better fit

I may try tipping mine and see if that does anything but also going to try the hzrdus black in something 80+ gram weight wise hopefully. I hit the hzrdus yellow on my driver and will not be going away from that for some time.

I have the Oban Kiyoshi White in mine, 04 flex. My driver swing speed is 105, with an 'aggressive' transition. This shaft has been a game changer for me, low spin, medium launch, penetrating ball flight with tight dispersion. The feel is amazing as well.

Have the Tour 75s in mine, I have to say I love this head as it is super easy to hit, BUT it's clear it does spin a bit. I can carry it about 225 but then it just kind of hits and stops... Not terrible but a little more roll would be nice. Is the 410 3w maybe a better option? I have heard it sounds weird but so does the 400.... I am willing to shaft hunt since I like the ease of use so much on the 400... Thinking about the Rogue Silver? Anyone try that shaft in a fairway?

I have not tried the rogue silver in a fairway wood but I had one in a driver that the tip broke and I left it with my buddy who does a bunch of club stuff. May have to see if he still has it and throw a ping tip on it. Anyone else yet the rogue silver in a fairway?

Also looking at the HZRDUS black as an option... thinking this head may need something uber low/low. Maybe even a yellow... but it's clear this head needs to shave some RPMs.

I hit the yellow in my g400lst driver and love it. My buddy has my rogue silver shaft so if the length is decent, may give that a try. Also would like to try the hzrdus black in 80+ gram 6.5.

I love the Yellow, too... But I installed a TM adapter and was playing it in an M2.... such a great combo, but really liking the Silver 70 in my g400 head right now, I am thinking the silver may help knock off a little more spin than the yellow, though. Tour 75 just isn't quite cutting it.

Many of my Ping G's/G400's I bought with a Ping Tour X-flex shaft and then upgraded myself (so I would have a backup with an adapter if I ever had a failure), so I know what you've been hitting, and they don't cut it. I keep going back to Fujikura in my drivers and woods, no matter what else I try. But the only other wood shaft I really liked was a Kuro Kage in an Adams LS fairway wood years ago.

I'm heavier than you, but with similar swing speed and higher scores, but I go with:
    G400 LST (8.5) with Fujikura Ventus 7 X, 295-310 total usually
G400 Stretch 3W (12.4) with Fujikura Speeder 8.2 TS X (tee club), 270-280 total usually
G400 5W (16.5) with Fujikura Pro 93 TS X (I gave up on hybrids substitute, tee or turf), 250-260 total usually

I really love them all. Maybe try one of those the same in 10g lighter class.

I have a similar swing speed to yours, maybe slightly higher, I currently play a tensei pro blue 80tx tipped 1' and find it really smooth and somewhat low spin. I would probably recommend going the pro white route or diamana bf.
