Anybody currently bagging an obscure ancient club you pulled put of the garage?

Just recently put the Adams RPM Low Profile 5 Wood with the Prolaunch Blue 75S shaft back in the bag. I believe I bought this club at Wal-Mart for under $100 in 2007. Once upon a time it was as reliable as anything. It's filling a spot I'm struggling with at the moment. Probably the only really shallow fw I've ever agreed with.

FWIW from what I've seen and experienced holding on to a favorite club from generations back is often the case with 5woods for ams and 3wds for pros.

I believe the reason why is because in many cases might be something like Irons are indications of our lifestyle and how we see ourselves. Drivers are aspirations and often these woods are really just tools for a particular job so it's easier to keep one that works in-spite of the potentially small status loss or gain from playing something newer.

Every time I have trouble with a 3 wood I grab my trusty Taylormade 200 Tour 13* with a YS-7.

She and I have seen good times and bad but she rarely lets me down.

Yes. These are early 70’s Stan Thompson Stainless wedges. The weak loft PW (it’s like 50°) slots in well as a reliable gap wedge for me from 110-120.

The SW I don’t use but will if my regular one acts up.

I recently put my old Cobra Trusty Rusty 53 (bent to 54) degree back in play. Pretty sure I got it in the mid/late 90s. I moved to FL from NJ and this wedge gets it done for me. The "Tri-Bounce" sole is awesome for a variety of lies.

I've been playing a 2004 set of Maltby CER701Us for the the last couple of weeks. They're the first MOI-balanced set I ever built. They play great, but it's odd to think of your 125 yard club being an 8-iron.

I still play the original Rossie II dual force putter. Picked it up for $20 out of a used bin in Myrtle Beach 20 years ago. Since then been through numerous Wilson Staff, Odyssey, Scotty, and Taylormade putters. Finally just re-gripped old trusty, and plan on sticking with it for awhile.

Currently being forced to use my old YES! Callie putter after leaving my evnroll on a green. Arrgghhh!

Pulled out a Pole Kat 3-D+ 13 degree offset mini driver to try out at the range, and I'll be carrying it as an alternate driver, at least for a few weeks. Was hitting it well at the range. Pretty deep face, SP-700 titanium.

I'm not sure it's quite ancient or obscure... but I still game a 909 5 wood with a whippy regular flex titleist diamana... i hit nice high cuts that long soft... I'm always trying to replace it but it flat works

Ping eye2 plus that I shafted with c-taper 130 shafts. I hated c-tapers is every other iron I tried them in.

Nickent hybrid. Have messed around with some Hogan Apex II's from the late 80's / early 90's, but playing Mizuno 62's while waiting for my JPX 919 Forged & S18 Wedges...patience is a virtue? If so, developing some right now!

Recently put an older Mizuno Raw Black Ox 58* wedge in. Not ancient, but I think they were from around 2002 or '03?

The other thread about Bermuda grass / low bounce wedges has me thinking about trying my '69 W/S Dyna Power sand wedge, though.

Um, how do you forget your putter? It's the last club you have in your hands, unless you chipped in. Even then you will realize the very next hole unless you got lucky again. And if you went back and the group behind you denies finding it then I hope lightning strikes them down the next time they play.

I play Lynx Parallax once in a while.

If OP's 2007 Adams club is ancient, your wedges would probably be prehistoric/big bang era. :)

I still own and occasionally play a Perfect Club, the Peter Kessler special. I consider it the only infomercial club that actually delivered.

I had some BeCu Zing 2 wedges in the bag back in Florida 2 months ago ... they go waaaaaay back

Recently I put the Callaway X2 Hot Deep 3 wood my bag. After trying again, I wondered why it took so long to get it back in play.

I put my old Ping ISI Nickel irons in the bag this week, immediately came out of the slump I was in. On the 1st hole, hit the 6-iron to 8 feet, and was like "Hello old friends".

Present day: no. But, if I had a tournament tomorrow, I’d drop my G410 LW and add my original Eye 2 LW.

My son is still uses my old R7 that I got when it first came out. I offered to reshaft another driver I had that is a few years old but he won’t give up the R7

Picked up a Rapture V2 17* hybrid on a whim and have hit some monster approach shots and layups this past week. Could find a spot as my 210-220 yard club. Absolutely nuked one and it ended up going 240 yards and came to rest 30 yards short of a par 5 I was laying up on. That's a solid 3 wood distance for me.

Ben Hogan Beryllium 52° and 56° Special Wedges , that I rescued / liberated from one of

the rental sets in our clubhouse....replaced them with a couple old Ping Eye 2 wedges

that I had laying around.... they compliment my '99 Apex nicely ,

This is still in my bag (photo nabbed from the internet).

After wrestling with 3 different new Hybrids, I gave up.

Went to the garage and grabbed my 22* Adams super hybrid. Hit 15 shots with it during my last 3 rounds, and they were all laser straight +/- 200 yards depending on the wind. Why I ever retired it the the garage I'll never know. So dumb, and so expensive. :(

Where can i find those beryllium copper Hogan Wedges? They look sweet

When my putting stoke goes down the drain, I pull out my Hogan Junior blade putter from the 70’s. You have no choice but to put a good stroke on it with that thing. It’s also one of the best feeling putters I’ve ever used.

I think they stopped making the Hogan Beryllium wedges in 1998 , The set I have were

brand new and mixed in with a rental set of Ping Eye 2 irons. Found them in @ 2005....

I currently have a Zing 2 L/S in the bag. The Eye 2 XG/Gorge and Eye 2+ are currently in the spare bedroom.
