Question for ping hoofer

Hi everyone. I just got a 2018 hoofer and with a lot people complaining about tangle issues, i would like to know how the people who love their hoofer organize their clubs in the bag?

I was going;

Driver/5 wood - putter

6/7/8 - 5 iron/ 4 hybrid

60/56/51/pw

Does that make sense?

Any suggestions to help minimize the struggle with the tangle issues?

Also curious on this as everything I have read on here suggests the hoofer is insufferable despite great reviews elsewhere. I did read that If you have three clubs in each of the mid dividers you should be all set.

The tangle is frustrating and I nearly gave up on it coming from a Sun Mountain bag previously but if you persist with it after a while you get used to it.

The trick is to remove/add clubs when the legs are still retracted. It can be a pain with the legs out and a full bag of clubs!

How many clubs did you have in each of the dividers? I anticipate the clubs that tangle when the legs are down are those in the lower section (closest to the legs)?

So to be fair I did probably make things worse for myself by having the most clubs in the bottom but I would also say thats how it's designed.

Even the top tangled although it was definitely worse mid-bottom.

It's a big pain in the butt, but you get used to it eventually and it just becomes a part of life. I go:

I've got a 4-Series Hoofer and I carry about 50% of my rounds. The tangle issue is a con, but the pros make it worth it. Light weight, ergonomic dimensions, reliable stand mechanism and strap system.

I've never had an issue with club tangles if I remove my clubs while the bag is still vertical, if the bag is standing removing or replacing clubs can be difficult. Also no issues if the bag is on a cart.

In regards to pulling clubs when legs are in use- is it simply that you may partially pull out another club in the same area? Or is it that the stand system pinches the clubs so much that you can’t remove them (or put them back)?

Like the OP I am new to the hoofer- just ordered one to replace a 3 divider titleist that I despise- the tangle can’t be worse than this thing.

I'm not getting a new bag anytime soon. Can't imagine that anything other than a 14 way would do, but had them before and don't care much for them either.

The only bag top that I really loved was the Ogio Woode, but hated their bags.

I should have added as well that I like my Hoofer. I think it has the right amount and type of pockets. I particularly like the magnetic pocket, great for quick access to tees and 2 or 3 balls. Like the flat bottom. I don't carry when I walk, but the straps are good. Maybe if there were dividers that went all the way to the bottom, and each section had dividers. For example the top section is divided in 2, but there is no full length divider.

I just picked up a 2019 Hoofer over the winter. Have a Sun Mountain 3.5 that works fine, but twists a lot on my pushcart. I'm hoping the Hoofer twists less because of the set-up with the legs. We'll see how it fares on the cart, but otherwise it's a very good bag. Plenty of pockets to organize stuff. The club tangle issue is a mystery to me. I've read complaints about this for years on this forum and it seems highly overblown to me. Yes, clubs get tangled if you put the clubs in with the legs extended or the bag on a slant. Quickly stand or straighten the thing mostly vertical, and the clubs sit nicely, problem solved. Every bag has strengths and weaknesses--lots of strengths in this one.

I have had my hoofer for almost 24 years, bought it in HS. Always kept 3 in top, 4/3 middle, 4 bottom.

Only two woods.

Getting replaced this week with a new cart bag.

The only tangle I ever get is when the bag is on the stand and you put a club in the middle sections. as soon as you pick the bag(2018) up then all good.

To me the Hoofer carries lighter than the 2.5+ I had previous yet double the weight and far more pockets.

I take it back- tangle in the mid dividers is crazy. Hoped it was overblown. Woof.
