Barnsley Gardens Opinions

Wanted to get opinions from the Atlanta area folks on Barnsley Gardens?

Worth the money and drive (I'm on the North side of Atlanta)?

Would appreciate any other opinions on the course, layout, etc.

While I haven't played it, but those that I know that have all rave about it...at one point and may still be...it's one of the top public access courses in the state...don't know about the conditions, etc. but the majority of the courses here have been wet most of the winter/early spring.

I have played the course several times and its great. I have not played this year, but last year from august to october it was in great shape, club house staff always friendly and sandwiches pretty good. The greens last summer were always running fast 12+. Fees include range balls. Round times are not too bad even on a weekend. I would highly recommend it, but play from the right tee box for your abilities.

I traveled from Forsyth Co. last year to play in the GSGA member/guest day. Course was beautiful, staff was great. We had a great time. Its a bit of a drive but doable.

Appreciate all the feedback. Wanted to play this weekend but may hold off given the weather. Will definitely get out there this season though

they will be punching bent greens around this time, call the shop ahead of time. the late afternoon twighlight rates are really good on golfnow and similar sites

Barnsley is about twenty mins from my house. The course is usually in great shape. Greens have been a little slower than normal lately according to some members.

Come summer time you’ll have to watch out for snakes. I’ve seen some pics of monster rattlesnakes from the course.

When I lived in Atlanta (Midtown) I would drive up to Barnsley any chance I could. For the price and conditions, it's the best you'll find in town (public). Also, the hour drive was justified by it never being crowded so you could always play in 4 hours, unlike most ATL area courses. The Greens are always really good, they are Bermuda so not sure on the punch schedule, but I would definitely recommend making the drive.
