Masters Lottery

Just kind of venting here, sorry guys. But I’ve been in the lottery for 10 years now and have come up empty, it’s really disappointing ( I know I’m not alone) has anyone else been in a time fame this long and ever hit on tickets? Also has anyone ever just made a drive and risked buying tickets on the street for a reasonable price? I’m just trying to get in on a Monday or Tuesday, I know the weeeknd is out of the question unless I hit the actual powerball. Thanks again.

Don't be discouraged. You can get on the course Monday or Tuesday for a relatively reasonable price. My buddy and I always buy our tickets on Washington because, like you, we are perennial lottery losers. You can expect to pay $500 on Washington for a Monday or Tuesday full day ticket. Scalpers on Washington also sell half-days if they have them. The longer the day drags on the cheaper the scalpers are willing to sell tickets for that day. We once bought Tuesday tickets at about 12:30pm for $150 a piece. That's over five full hours on the course (Augusta closes at 6pm).

To answer your other question, I've entered for the past five or six years and never won. My buddy has been entering for 15 years or so and never won, so you're not alone.

Holy Moley, this is what I am talking about in the other thread. The Masters has just gotten out of hand. Their prices are just INSANEEEEEEE!!! Who knows how many tickets they give away in the “Lottery”

I’m making a push for the Arnold Palmer Invitational to be the “Masters for normal People”.!

Augusta can keep their rich people Tourney.

People just love Exclusivity don’t they?

I’ve never won or been either OP. I don’t even look forward to getting the results anymore. I have no real expectation of winning. And I live around an hour and 40 minutes away ( plus or minus traffic).

Can’t make myself stomach $1500 plus to go to a practice round. ( I’d need 3 tickets) . If I’m meant to go it will happen. Otherwise I’ll watch on tv.

Augusta gives no tickets to brokers. They sell only to individuals. It's those individuals who turn around and sell their tickets to brokers.

Back when you sent a form in by mail I got selected but new job, infant, no $ - had to pass. 22 years later got selected and that little girl (true golfer) went with me! FYI, we had no trouble getting tickets on the street the day before our day and they were not cheap but under my budget (and no way I wasn’t getting us both in for an extra day, lol).

Augusta frowns mightily on brokers and scalpers. They pushed the Augusta city council pass a law a few years ago that stipulated scalpers on Washington couldn't operate within 500 yards of the course. And they've instituted policies in the past couple of years to make it harder for the ticket black market to exist, like limiting the amount of times you can go in and out.

I sort of wish that they would just weight the lottery entries of those who have never won to give us a greater chance. Say, an extra entry for every year you've been rejected. It would still be possible for lucky A-Holes to win three or four years in a row, but it would also give those of us who are repeatedly rejected a fighting chance.

2700 feet.

And it’s state law, not a special local one.

Just tossing in some facts. The 2700 feet I knew, the state vs. local I had to look up.

I am 0 - for forever. Thankfully my travel buddy won the lottery a few years ago and we went. A guy who works for me won this year and was there yesterday.

You don’t know, so why are you even talking about what Augusta does or does not. No one knows .

Most of the tickets are passed down from generation to generation for families to enjoy on the Augusta area. Most are bought by the corporate world as a reward to their top earners. The Masters is THE place to be if you are a hot shot in your industry. It is the thinking man’s super bowl and so all the corporate people want to attend.

I know people who have paid 10k to go all week in package deals.

Augusta is very aware of all this.

My opinion is they want the GROSS (the amount of money spent to get in the Gates ) to be as high as possible. So they can say , “The Masters pulls in $1 billion dollars to the area every year”. Or else they would lock down reselling tickets hard, if they cared about people. But $ rules.

So there you have it OP. Come over to the API side with me. Haha

It's amusing that the very next sentence after saying "no one knows" you start expounding on what The Masters is aware of and what they care about. You don't know, so why are you talking?

LOL, 100% correct.

Either a single day ticket through the lottery or a badge - they don't give tickets to brokers to sell and have been taking little measures to crack down on that, but pretty much understand it can't be eliminated. They are locking down the ins and outs so that potentially is limiting revenue and, lol, they don't need ticket reselling to generate revenue, that's a joke. It's pretty much a live and let live unless they see things getting out of hand or pretty obvious violations, been going on forever, just a bigger deal now.

You're talking out your a** to people who know more than you.

When you do something like that, it's best not to leave a written record. Better for it to be verbal, you can always deny it that way later.

You guys are denying what I say just to deny what I say. That’s fine and all, but you all are wrong. This is from an article on golf channel

“Face value, like most things tied to the Masters, is surprisingly low: $75 for a practice round ticket, and $115 for a competition round. But the relative inaccessibility of tickets, except for those who had them before the club closed sales in the 1970s or the lucky few to win them in the tournament’s annual online ticket lottery, means prices on the street can reach 20 times face value.”

I know you do not like what I am saying, but it is the truth. I stand behind what I say.

And 3jacker keep your moronic advice for someone who cares. Thanks buddy
