Winn Dri Tac golf grips

So my 11year old son has outgrown the blue Winn grips.

He loves those squishy grips so I looked into the ladies version but found them a bit too thick, so I'm thinking of building up junior grips by adding tape.

The junior grips are 0.55 and the ladies are 0.59. Assuming a wrap of tape is 0.007", it would require almost 3 layers to end up with an in-between thickness of 0.57"

Has anyone done this? Is this too much tape?

I am not going to lie, I would have never played these grips as I prefer the "tour velvet" type of grip. Over the past week the humidity was so bad that every iron shot felt like my hands were slipping which created some awful swings. So my playing partner had some of these Winn Dri Tec grips and I could have played them without a glove on, amazing grips. I proceeded to purchase some including the new lite version to try on my irons.

The ladies or undersized Dri Tac grips should be fine for your son. They come in a couple different colors (pink, blue, grey). I would just go to a golf store and check them out before you do all the extra work. My daughter is 11 and she loves those grips and so does my son. Neither one of them has ever had a problem with the ladies (undersized) version. I would think your son would be the same.

never thought I would be a Winn person but in this humidity it is almost like cheating.

I love and prefer the feel of Winn grips over all others out there. Problem is if you play any amount of golf they don't last long at all.

The grips dried out his hands? Never heard of such a thing. My buddy plays out of Houston and has been using them for years and from what I believe never had a issue with this. Interesting.

Isn't Houston considered one of the most humid city in the US?

Completely opposite to our desert heat here in CA. :)

Winn Grips are the best grips for humid weather. Lamkin makes a similar grip to the Dri Tac. I know a lot of people use Golf Pride, but they are horrible for Florida weather.

I must have mistaken I thought he was playing in hot humid air, you are correct Houston is very humid. I thought in the hot desert you were referring to sweaty hands, which Winn is amazing.

Winn grips suck I found out they just don't last. Best grips are golf pride tour velvet cord. Can't go wrong with them and almost everyone plays them on tour.

I wouldnt say they suck they work well really well in humid conditions or sweaty hands, as far as durability I have not had many issues thus far.

Winn Grips don't last. We change about every 4 months. The grip is a lot better and more comfortable than Golf Pride. Hate corded grips.

That is the main reason I don’t like them because they wear out so fast. When I used them after a few months they were bad and I was always replacing them just before a tournament. It just not cost effective to me. Corded grips are rough but they last and work in all conditions. I also like lamkin grips but my daughter likes golf pride so I stick with it.

But you should be regripping every 4-6 months anyway.

exactly, we are members of wrx do we even keep our clubs for 4 months, lol!! In all seriousness, the best grip I have found for humid, sweaty conditions nothing even close, but the downside is they do wear but again money when it comes to my clubs means nothing haha....
