Made my ugly clubs even uglier

So play copper Eye 2s. I know they were factory c8-c9. But even the club weight was light for me. Had a a problem with to quick of a transition. Added the weight on much better ball striking. SW,PW,9 took 1 strip of tape, 8-4 2 strips and the 2 took 3 strips but has different shaft a Dynamic Gold S300, all the others are the KT-M stiff. The 2 felt really light. Not sure if the shaft was the difference. I suspect it was. So just one more thing the boys can bust on as they are paying

I'd thought of applying lead tape as you have, but I went for the so called normal method, flat across the back of the clubface. It obscures the color code and some of the Ping text, but I'm willing to live with that. :)

I do not know on Eye 2s ( Gives way for another experiment) I know on some CB clubs with hot faces it tones them down some. But I will experiment on that with my Eye2s and maybe my forged KZG CBs. I know when I was under contract with Infiniti Golf and played the CB Assure irons and even the 422 irons I did the lead tape thing to calm those hot faced things down.

You need to take a blunt object, like the back end of small screwdriver, and mash/blend that in a little.

Why don't you just put tungsten powder down the shafts and swing weight them that way?

I can tell you another reason besides the "cool" factor and this is strictly my opinion and not etched in stone. Personally I do not like a club slugged in the hosel period whether it it tip weights or tungsten powder. Lead tape along the head can pin point a club to hit like you need it too. I also provides an even balance. In the case of what 33 has done it will get the ball flight up some with the weight down low and will perhaps make the shaft tip work or kick a little for him.

Well Stu, I normally agree with everything you post and I love reading them. In this case we'll just have to agree to disagree. IMO there isn't enough lead tape on those Eye2's to effect ball flight. Just like you ,it is just my opinion.

Not a techie but def wasn't looking for a ball flight change. For me I like and seem to be able to play better with a "heavier" club. I still think the shafts in the eye 2 isn't " heavy " enough for me. By this I mean my favorite all time club to play are 65 wilson dynaflows. They have a wilson staff shaft. They are the "heaviest" club to my feel. Know exactly where the club face is (good and bad) during the swing.

I am not all that familiar with the specifics of Ping shafts. The Eye 2s I found have Apollo multi flex steel in them and work pretty well for me. I am thinking maybe along the lines of a KBS 120 may work for you if the DG- S 300 does not. Actually I have not experimented with Ping clubs that much. I do know that a Ping Eye 2 PW I have and have been experimenting with I put a stock Cleveland pull out wedge shaft in it. Basically that is a DG wedge shaft that is tuned. I have no idea where that head came from. It was in a bucket of heads I had over in the building. I liked the grind on it and I did a mock up and checked the specs on it. Actually it was the exact specs I use for that type of wedge 50* loft 65* lie. I had that brand new Cleveland shaft because I did a reshaft for a guy on a brand new wedge. Tried it in the old Eye2 and liked it. I have not experimented any with the Eye2s because I like the Apollo shafts to begin with and they hit good. If Augie gets on here I consider him the Ping expert and he can give you more detailed info and ideas

Yep you are exactly like me a strictly feel player. Gotta feel where that head is at good or bad during the swing. Of course IMHO that enables us to self correct maybe during the swing subconsciously or later on in practice.
