Ping EYE 2+ - Sand Wedge options

So I purchased a mint set of 3-PW Ping Eye 2+ and want to add a sand wedge. I have a Ping 54° Rustique and a Ping Eye 2 SW factory 57.5°. What’s a better Ping Eye 2 SW and LOB or my rustique and Ping Eye 2 + SW and add a lob?

I have a red dot eye 2 sand wedge. Even though it matches one of my other wedges loft it has a different bounce and is better in grass. My vokey is better at opening up and hitting out of tight lies I guess what I’m saying is the versatility of the different bounce allows a lot of options from 50 yards in

I will just say that, unlike most "set" wedges, the Ping Eye2 LW and SW play like two very different clubs. For instance I have one of the 57.5 degree SW that I like a lot. I also have the LW from the same set and it is just not a club I can use at all.

On one hand, it's kind of cool that Ping produced two different clubs for (presumably) different types of shots or lies (maybe?). But on the other hand, you can't assume that if one of them works for you the other will also.

In the end I decided that 57.5 is plenty loft for the top end of my set. So I carry 3-4-5-6-7-8-9-W-S and leave the 2-iron (which I can't hit at all) and LW (which is very tricky for me to use) out of the bag.

The Eye 2 and Eye 2+ wedges are quite different, so it's hard to say (really will depend on what type of sole/bounce you like, playing conditions, etc). First, the lofts are 57.5*/61* on the Eye 2 and 53*/58* on the Eye 2+. The sole on the Eye 2+ is a lot narrower, and would play like it has less effective bounce (in today's terms). The offset on each SW is also much higher than the offset on the comparable LW.

The XG/Gorge versions (lofts of 56*/60*) are closer to the original Eye 2 SW/LW

Thanks - would it be weird to carry the Eye 2+ SW and 2 SW in the same bag? I was going to carry the 54° and use the Eye 2 SW as a SW2 for bunker.

I did exactly that when I played Eye 2+’s. I carried both sand wedges and it worked great both with yardage gaps and versatility.

I would look at the Glide Stealth 2.0 in the ES grind. It has the similar Eye Sole grind as the original wedges, but has the newer groves and higher cg.

I’ve played mine for 20 years and the grooves are still in good shape. I use it just about 15 times a round

Eye 2+ SW and LW. Seamless.

I always played BeCu Eye 2+ SW{53.5} & Eye 2 LW{61}

2+ is superior from the fairway & delicate shots around the green IMO. I switched to the Eye 2 SW{57.5} quite late fron the LW.
