Curious to hear thoughts on both sets especially from those that have played both.
Currently in the market for new irons and these two have me interested.
Thanks

I haven't played either, but have hit both and the Apex 19's are a little smaller foot print. The TM's have to my eye less offset, I haven't checked specs, just a visual. I prefer the sound and feel of the TM's. Forgiveness wise I would say they are on par with one another. GL.

Pretty similar, big difference is blade length. I personally prefer a smaller blade length, it just helps me focus more on having a good strike. Other than that, pretty much the same...

I have the p790's and I really like them. I like them enough that I had the opportunity during a fitting last week to hit 2 brand new sets of Apex and Apex Pro '19 that they had out for me, and I passed. I tend to recycle almost every year, so for me to pass on even trying them says a lot about the p790.

I have hit both. I went with the 790’s. I’m still in the honeymoon phase, but so far I’m liking them just fine! Solid sticks. Not too big, and not too small.

I got the P790 last year and did not make it throught the year with them. The soles did not work for me and the shorter clubs were even harder to hit. They seem to just go straight up for me. Distance gains were not that great for me. I just traded them in for a set of new Apex Pro dots. Best thing I could of done with them.

I tried so hard to hit a p790 3 and 2 iron. They just do not work for my swing. Chunky soles, no leading edge relief. They're almost like mini hybrids to me. I tried last year's Apex when I got fitted for the epons and they were very nice. Long, straight.

For me, the 790s were the first TM iron in a while that interested me enough to try it in the hitting bay. Unfortunately it ended there. Just couldn't hit it well. Tried some others like Apex and Hot Metals just to be sure it wasn't me, and hit those fine.

Doesn't mean that TM is putting out junk, but sometimes there are clubs that just aren't meant to be for me.

Appreciate the responses thus far fellas.

I currently play PXG 0311 gen1 irons which I haven’t even taken to the course yet. The Steelfiber i95 stuff shafts even soft stepped 1x were not cutting it for me.

Yesterday installed a Recoil 95 Prototype F4 into my 7 iron and the results are promising. Plan to soft step the 7 iron tonight and try that out.

Ultimately, I feel the 0311 irons are too much for me in general having come from Callaway Apex CF16 irons. I was being too ambitious I think. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

Been reading a bunch of buzz on the TM P790’s and Callaway Apex 19 irons and so thinking about either of these two sets with Recoil 95 Prototypes.

    Stay tuned.

I have the CF16's and the P790's, and both are great irons. The 16 are better for the short game, love the 9 iron for chipping, just amazing. I struggled with the 16 short irons on full shots, and did better with the P790. Long irons go to the P790 for me. The P790 6 and 7 irons are super clubs, as I pured a 6 iron yesterday that left me breathless. I have improved my iron play lately and really need to give the CF 16's another run, great irons. My confidence is higher with the P790 though.

I started out with the original apex irons then moved to cf16’s. Great irons.

Last night I had a chance to install new recoil 95 prototype shaft softstepped 1x and the irons have really come alive (7 iron only so far), much better for me I think versus straight in.

As much as I’d love a new set of irons, I feel I need to give these PXG irons a fair assessment.

    Thanks everyone!
