Pants for Summer Sun?

Hi, this will be my first season of playing a lot of rounds during the summer, and was wondering if anybody wears pants during the summer to protect against the sun? I live in Houston, TX so it's going to be very hot and humid. Do y'all have any recommendations for breathable pants that offer good sun protection? Thanks!

The legs have very thick skin. Just throw some spf 50 on them and they should be fine. Your face on the other hand has a thinner skin, you need to apply spf 60 or higher a few times a round. And if you get burnt on your face with a spf 60 then you should try another brand sun lotion. I put mine on on the drive to the range or the course. Looks kind of crazy to people in traffic, but it works. Other options are before you put your fancy golf clothes on. Helps you not miss spots. But again, re apply it often to your face, shoulders, arms.
Your legs are at an angle from the sunlight and again a thick skin thickness where they do not burn that often. Once or twice on the legs should work.
Bring bug spray too for twighlight rounds!

All the Bonobos Highland golf pants are UPF 50. The Lightweight 5 pocket would be the way to go.

Under Armour vented. Any one really. The vented ones have a little more breathability to them.

I second this, these are very, very lightweight and comfortable. Keep an eye out for sales with Bonobos they regularly offer an extra 30-40% off items already on sale so you can pick these up for a song if you're patient.

I saw yesterday that Peter Millar has featherweight golf pants on their website. I have one of their featherweight polos, and it is by far the lightest weight shirt I own—it is almost freaky how light that shirt is. If the pants are anything like that, I would think they would be worth checking out.

J Lindberg pants are the lightest weight I have found. Often available for sale on their website or trendygolf.com

I’ve been wearing Under Armour Showdown long pants this spring, and have been surprised at how cool and comfortable they are. I’m apt to overheat and am usually the first into shorts, but have yet to feel hot in these. Which is lucky since UA is one of the very few companies that offers a 36” inseam.

I have heard dermatologists say that most melanoma is developed from Burns you received as a child, when you were developing .
Always gets odd bordered moles checked out at your dermatologist. Yeah it’s a $30 co pay but it is worth it.

Even now that I’m not required to wear pants, I’ll probably keep playing in them. Most of my pants are Dunning and Peter Millar.

Columbia Silver Ridge Convertible Pant. Super lightweight, Omni Shade 50, Omni Wick, great for walkers. Has cargo pockets for junk and zippered legs turn them into shorts if you want.

I'd probably be the last person to wear a pair of pants playing golf. I just don't like pants in general. That's until I got a pair of the Adidas pants, they're thin, flexible and breathable. I may end up wearing them more than some shorts I have.

Nice, do you know what model pants you have?

I believe it's the Ultimate365 Classic. Just simple pants fit well especially for me with big legs and i'm a bigger dude.

I live in Houston too (first summer of golf ever, I started last winter) and I was asking myself the same question as you. I tried several pairs, and despite not being a "brand" person per se, I found that Travis Mathew pants (I think they are called 777 or something) are for me the most comfortable and lightweight of all.
Despite all the above, I think I will use shorts at the end of the day.
