Looking for potential options in San Jose area to play Monday morning after US Open. Will be playing as a single and ideally renting clubs.

The best course in the area, IMO, is Cinnabar Hills. About 30 miles away is Cordevalle which is a great course as well.

Up 30 miles the other way is my home course Callippe Preserve. Above-average muni course at about $50-80 depending on date/time. One of the better courses in the East Bay.

Good suggestions. If you hang out in the area see if you can play Poppy Hills.

Thanks for the tips. I’m leaning towards Cinnabar Hills. They have club rentals which is one of my requirements. It’s also within my price point.

I love Callippe, but that course just kicks my butt every time. Don't know what it is.

Its on a lot of holes. Even on #1. As big as the fairway is, I'm always right behind some tree or bush and end up punching it out backywards to some downhill lie.

I'll be near SJ later this week. Is the weather forecast something to be concerned about? Thought it doesn't rain between April - October :)

It's supposed to rain this Wednesday through next Wednesday which is really rare as it usually doesn't rain in May.

Aw man, theres plenty of good golf around here. Some of the peeps already mentioned Cinnabar, Wente, Coyote Creek, Corde Valle and Pasatiempo. If you have time, try to make it up to TPC Harding. I'd even throw Baylands in there (Palo Alto) great twilight rate and a pretty good links style. Greens roll true.

Did The Ranch in San Jose close? That was an "interesting" course. Lots of great options, always liked Cinnabar. Coyote Tournament course, they used to host Champions tour event there in the late 90's early 00's, its a Nicklaus design.

Thanks for the suggestions. I’ve got an 8:20 tee time on Monday at Cinnabar Hills. Looking forward to it.

If you are driving up from Monterey Monday morning, allow for some traffic. And crazy drivers.

This is true. Traffic going up north from Monterey area in the morning is brutal

Thanks for the recommendation on Cinnabar Hills. It was an amazing course. We played the Mountain and then the Lake side. Mountain had fantastic views. Lake was just ok in this regard. The guys I was playing with said Canyon has the best views. In any event it was well worth the money and perfect for what I was looking for.
