Lightweight driver shaft

So I got fit for the G410 over the weekend. I'm 54, with a driver swing speed in the very low 90's (once I get loose). That's coming out of a 5 month winter layoff. The rep ended up putting me in a 12 degree with the 40 gram Distanza shaft, and after getting a ball fitting with the Bridgestone rep, gained 20 yards carry with the driver setup and the new e12 soft ball. Problem is, there's no way I can drop $500 on a new driver right now, so I'm looking at an ultra lightweight shaft to put into my current Anser. Any suggestions?

Pro Launch Blue at 45 grams would work. Less than $80 U.S.

What is your current driver set up? A lighter shaft could help but I'm going to say something you probably already know... It's the combination of all 3 entities, New tech driver head/lighter shaft/ball fitting, that has contributed to the gain in distance. I personally never had success with lighter shafts (UST Helium 5F5)... although I got a slight up-tick in ball speed so did an increase in spin which negated any chance of more distance. Lighter shaft also gave me another swing miss... getting too quick during the transition into the downswing.

Miyazaki made some real light shafts. As mentioned, the UST Helium is an option.

Current driver is a Ping Anser set to 11 degrees with a Blur reg flex shaft. I'm concerned with the lighter shaft messing up my tempo for sure, as my tempo has a tendency to get really quick anyway.

You can pick up Matrix M4 white, red or black tie 45-55 gram on the bay right now for $20-30. My Dad is 73 and has the 50 gram black tie in regular and gets great results. Senior flex he tried and it was too soft.

Aerotech Claymore, I use the MX60 religiously and have never had any other shaft that could replace it regardless of cost. There are 48g and 60g models. Added bonus, you can find them for ~$70 shipped on eBay from a few vendors.

Are you sure you were swinging in the low 90’s?

What launch monitor was the fitter using ?

The Alta Distanza shaft is 40g and only comes in Soft Regular Flex which is A flex in other brands. It’s a pretty soft shaft. That seems really light and soft for someone in the 90+ swing speed range.

If you can control it and it works so be it. But I can’t see too many people swinging at or above 90 mph fitting into that shaft.

Just a consideration....Most of the Miyazaki lightweight shafts were .350 tip. The G410 adapter is .335”.

Good to mention that - I had no idea they were 350 tips. Was just throwing out lightweight shafts that I knew of.

They were using a Trackman. Quite humbling numbers I must admit. Before I pull the trigger on anything I will get it checked again, preferably after a few good range sessions, maybe even a lesson or two (I'm always fighting releasing the club too early). Some flexability exercizes too.
