Thinking of being in JAX weekend of 9/8/19 need some opinions!

Hi Everyone!

A couple of my golf buddies are huge Kansas City Chiefs fans (I am not) and they play at Jacksonville on September 8th and one of them has always wanted to play the Sawgrass Stadium course so we thought of turning it into a guys golf/football weekend.

Thinking of flying into JAX or MCO on Thursday and playing Friday and Saturday... Possibly Monday... before flying home. Is the stadium course really worth the $500? Are there any other courses around we should consider playing instead?

Thanks and any advice will help!!

The whole Stadium experience is totally fun, from the practice facilities, to seeing tour players, to the friendliest (and best looking!) cart girls, to great food, drinks and service after the round. Pay extra and get individual caddies and walk the course. Walk, walk, walk. Feel the course.

Thanks! Kinda what I figured but wanted an enabling opinion!

TPC Sawgrass facility actually has 36 holes. There is the Stadium course and then Dyes Valley. If you are unsure. Play Dyes Valley for $150. Its located on the same grounds as TPC Sawgrass, you hit ranges balls on the same range as TPC Sawgrass, you go to the same clubhouse, etc. Dyes Valley is a great course. It used to host the Web.com Tour Championship event. Great course. However, if you are sure you want to play Stadium its expensive but worth it. I've played it 3-4 times. I just recommend calling and making sure the entire Stadium course is 100%, confirm they don't have major construction, punched greens, temp tee boxes, etc. I'm pretty sure its closed now for work. You will be pissed if you go out there and 5 of the holes aren't playable.

I wouldn't play anywhere else unless someone can vouch - I haven't played some of these in a while. However, I was just down at Amelia Island and North Hampton was mint.

I moved away a few years ago after 8 yrs golfin around Jax. Good luck.

I recommend courses up at Amelia Island:

Omni Amelia Island Oak Marsh

Golf Club North Hampton

Ritz Carlton Amelia Island

More Jacksonville Beach courses:

Windsor Park ($60 course fun and normally heavy boozin)

Ponte Vedra Inn & Club (not sure if public)

Pablo Creek (might have to jump the fence to play)

Sawgrass Country Club

South 95:

World Golf Hall of Fame

King/Bear

Slammer/Squire

St Johns Country Club

Play the Stadium. I have a standing offer to forum members--as a Valley Course member (the sister course), I can host someone for a discounted rate on the Stadium (at that time of year, it would be $350 and you wouldn't have to take a caddie). Don't know if something like that would interest you. Valley course is also an option, probably a little over $100, have to check.

I agree with this. I used to play the course often and only two rounds stand out. One was in a scramble right after the players so conditions were stupid fun. The best though was walking with an individual caddie. If you are only playing it once do yourself a favor and splurge on the individual walking caddie.

stadium is worth it if the wallet can handle the greens fee. its a tough challenge and fun to play on a course you watch the pros play every year. plus dyes valley is fun too! if you don't mind driving 40 minutes or so. world golf village has two fun courses that are worth the play. slammer and squire and king and bear.
