The Brute at Grand Geneva

Next week I will be playing the Brute, Abbey Springs, and a third course that we have not decided yet (we may not even golf the third day so no tee time has been made but am open to suggestions). I have played Abbey and loved it. Its a fun track and I am excited to go back. I have never played the Brute and am curious what people think about it. Have any of you played it yet this year? If so how's the condition? I think I'll play it at the 6500 mark (one up from the tips). I guess I am just curious about your experiences there, and if you have any advice for me and my group. Also, any recommendations on a third course to play? (I have played the Player Course at Geneva National and liked it a lot). Thanks guys!

Sounds like you’ll have a great time. I’ve had a good time the couple times I’ve played the brute. Fun course that’s usually in good shape. I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the Geneva National courses or Hawks View. I probably like the Trevino course the least of the bunch, but probably because I’m a lefty who fades(can’t hit a draw with) my driver.

The brute is usually in good shape. I haven't been there this year and I'm not sure what type of shape it's in with all the rain we've been having. As a third course, I'd suggest Hawks View. I actually enjoy it more than the Brute. Great views and conditions. I hope the weather is good for you! Have fun!

I just looked up hawks view and it looks like a very fun track. Might be the ticket for day 3. Have you played it this year? If so what kind of shape is it in?

Sorry to be a Debbie Downer but The Brute is not that brutish. I honestly thought the layout of the "hillier" holes was quite ordinary and not that enjoyable. The "flatter" holes aren't too bad though but overall the course plays quite open with the only tough tee shot being the 10th. Overall, based on expectations I was underwhelmed.

I’m with B-Man, I’m not a fan of the Brute. I think the whole Grand Geneva resort it way overpriced and over rated. If your up there with buddies, play Geneva National or Hawks View.

I haven't got up there yet this year, but I've never had a bad condition issue there. Even in December it's been great.

Looks like we are locked in at hawks view, abbey, and the brute. (We got a good rate at the brute so that one was a given). I think we might get rained on but we will still play. Hopefully the courses dont disappoint. I'm sure they are going to be great. Thanks guys!

Was just at Hawks view and it's in good shape. Was a touch wet but fairways and greens were good as always

Myself and a few buddies are going up to Lake Geneva in early June. One of the guys has an aunt with a townhouse up there so we got lodging for free, which is great. We are playing the Player course on Thursday morning and then the par 3 course at Hawks View that afternoon. The next day we are playing The Brute and the Highlands as we got a nice replay rate. Pretty excited for the trip. Hoping things dry out a little in the next couple weeks.
