Hulk was 70 6.5TX untipped. I left the hulk quite a bit longer in case I wanted to tip it so I know the swing weight was a bit heavier but the winner was still pretty clear IMO.

I tested a 70 6.5TX and found it to be higher launch and similar spin to both my Accra TZ5 and TZ6. Dispeesion was slightly worse than both for me as well.

For me it didn't beat out either Accra overall. Very different feel than the old T1100. The matte black looks awesome though. It will be on the BST soon

What specs did you build (tipping, weight, etc.) on your TZ5, and what is your SS?

    Swing speed and ball speed?
    Early, mid or late release?
    Smooth or hitter?

My friend ordered one of these from JDs and brought it to Torrey Pines this weekend.

WOW! On the first hole north he had a little chip shot in. Made bogey, Rory style. But even more impressive was the T Ball he hit on 16.... 400 yards up will to the right on the ocean... he was 10 feet from the front of the green.

He has a lot of power. Games this in a new LST 10.5. Absolute high flying knuckle balls. The shaft is a good match for him. 70 gram TX. I took a few swings with it and noticed the ball didn’t spin enough for me to use something like that. I felt like I was slinging a kite with no wind. I’m a low spin player with good speed. This guy a higher spin profile. Seems like a winner for guys that spin the **** out of the ball. Not worth it for me.

Swing speed in the 115 range. Ball speeds are usually mid/high 160s. Sometimes up to the 170s. (I can get specific numbers with my GC2 next week. I haven't hit the Ping with it yet.

I'd call myself a mid release hitter

The shaft feels absolutely amazing I’ll add. Like a good fly rod.
Watching my buddy annihilate it was enjoyable. I wasn’t even mad. If he could get his wedges halfway decent we could try some USGA events.

Just wondering how many of you guys are still gaming this shaft and if not what beat it? I got the 60 6.5TX and a Diamana DF 60TX and on the range I liked the Diamana better. Better feel and flight for me. Might try one more time on course to see if using my ball of choice yields different results.

I thought this might be helpful to some. I subscribe to a site that does some really great in depth shaft testing reviews and I found this interesting in regard to the Smoke Green.

"What I see is a profile very similar to the Smoke Black, but slightly stiffer and lighter with slight strengthening of the tip and butt sections. The 6.5 TX shafts are entirely different designs. The TX versions are different EI profiles. They have much firmer midlsections... The Mid is extremely firm. There is some resemblance to the Project X HZRDUS T1100. The Smoke Green TX has a firmer mid and butt while the tip is much the same."

WOW. Ron....That is BEYOND awesome information. I GREAT post and info. Thank you!

my hulk is ordered and en route -- went for the 65g, 6.5TX.

On -, @TrueTemper i have typically tip-trimmed the T1100 HZRDUS about 1" for my driver, playing 45.25". would you suggest the same for the Hulk or less/more? SS is roughly 120-122 consistently.

I top out at 115 (110-113 more realistically) , and went 65g 6.5 TX straight in, playing at 45". At 120+ you will likely want to tip this shaft an inch if you had a good experience with the T1100 tipped 1".

This shaft might officially take me off the market. I have tried many of the latest, greatest shafts over the last two years.... KK DC, Synergy Black, Aldila Tour Green, Rogue White, Diamana DF, Accra TZ6, Accra Tour Z 472, KK XD, and several others. Quick swing background, I'm around 125 SS (I know, just like every other guy on here), and can kick it up a notch if need be. Toll can attest to this, as he's seen my numbers. Synergy Black and KK XD, both 70tx, have been my go-to's for about the last year. It seems like every new shaft I try, I just go back to the XD. However, after playing the last month with the Hulk (6.5 70tx, tipped 1/2"), I might never buy another shaft. I have never hit the ball longer, or straighter with this thing. It's easy to hit a cut or draw, and lowered my flight a touch from the XD. Not sure if my swing is just in a groove or if this thing is just the real deal, but I've now played 6-7 rounds with it and have never hit the driver this good.

Bit the bullet and went up to the TX. The fact that it's so similar in bend profile to the T1100 was just too intriguing to ignore. Gonna give it a go this weekend. BBE has much even more excited because I've tried many of the same shafts as he has. I am not nearly as fast, but, those shafts were all contenders for me.

For all you POGS not outswinging Keith Mitchell in the mid 180s ball speed; stop claiming this isn't enough shaft for your 110-115 mph swings. Its comical reading some of these comments.

My first post here—Funny—I’ve heard POG in my other lines of work—but not in golf.

I bought the 80g 6.5 TX and thought it may fix my issue with club head lagging behind and misses going right on me. It came in yesterday, and I took it out to the range. As far as I can tell the reduced whip in the head has helped a lot. Long and straight shots.

I think it’s performing as well as it looks.

I know with the small batch process every shaft is frequency checked to ensure it matches. Anyone know the cpms for the 3 65g shafts in the smoke green?

Nice. Hows the TX with the tipping at 1.25? I'm usually 113-115, so was leaning towards 60g 6.5 TX untipped. Hows the weight play in the 60g?

I guess I'm the only one that prefers the matte finish. Dont get me wrong the PVD is beautiful but I couldn't actually game it with how bright it is.

if you haven't held it in your hands it's really not 'bright' -- and it's pointing away from you so...unless you're on some odd angle where the glare goes up the shaft somehow -- you won't notice it.

    plus...resale.

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph. An inline formatting menu will show up when you select text. Hit tab to get into that menu. Some elements, such as rich link embeds, images, loading indicators, and error messages may get inserted into the editor. You may navigate to these using the arrow keys inside of the editor and delete them with the delete or backspace key.
