Evnroll Gravity grip vs. SS Countercore

Has anyone tested these next to each other or found a preference?

I've used the GT Tour or 1.0 countercore on a few putters now. Good grip for sure but I was surprised how much I liked the deep pistol shape of the gravity grip and the technology behind it seems rather interesting. Other concern is the gt 1.0 is 52 grams + the countercore at 50 for a total of 102 grams. The total weight of the gravity grip is 120 grams, too heavy for the 355 gram putter head?

Thanks all.

The gravity grip by Evnroll with the weighted rod on the bottom of the grip is amazing but it does weigh a decent amount. Its personal preference with weight. You might love the gravity grip with your 355g head or you might feel like theres too much weight in the hands making the head feel lighter. Best of luck with your experimentation!

It's not too heavy if you're going to make a counter balance, may even be a touch light if you're aiming for a 2:1 head to handle ratio.

If you like the weight down by your low hand or somewhere between other than at the handle you'll have to install an Opti-Vibe weight say 50g-75g or whatever you like go with that and just put the plug in from the SS grip.

That's all the Gravity Grip is, it's a counter balance grip that Evnroll and those other guys are making out to be revolutionary when it's common practice except it's lower down vs up top.

I went from the gravity grip to the Pistol Gt 1.0 actually. The gravity grip is so thick from front to back I didn't care for it. I putted well and I think it helped with the overall feel of the stroke, but I never cared for holding the grip itself

I like the overall feel of pistol gt 1.0 over the gravity grip. Give or take a couple grams of weight, I think they both helped with the feel for me... I just prefer the superstroke in hand more. I also wrapped lead tape 3x around on the shaft right where the grip ends and feels even better in hand to me. Maybe just placebo but its been working for me. It added maybe 6-8 grams more.

  • 5 months later...

Played 9 holes with the Gravity Grip yesterday for the first time. I use it on a 33" Evnroll Tour Stroke Trainer bent 2 degrees upright. I stand 6-3.

Left hand low within 20 feet or so. Right hand low on lag puts.

Tiny sample, but so far the results are impressive. Gained 2.66 strokes on 9 holes. Lag putting was awesome (made an 80 footer for birdie, got down in 2 from 90 and 75 feet). Made one of two 10-11-footers for par. Made two three-footers for birdie - dead in the middle.

My best putting round in years.

It's subjective, but the grip helps me keep the face square through impact.

I'm pretty sure I have read, reviewed, seen and/or tested every club and component in the universe since 1995. The Gravity Grip is not common practice and it is revolutionary. I understand counterbalance weighting and this is more than just counterbalance weighting. Don't be so modest. Give these guys the credit they deserve. The grip is incredible.

IMO text the gravity grip before buying. It's quite possibly the worst feeling grip I've ever used. Its firm. Its slick. It's an odd shape. It didn't work for me.

What's your point? I can only lend some advice about a subject once?

You like the grip...I hate it, why not keep your positive review of this grip to yourself?

OP asked a question and I gave my opinion. That's what this forum is for.

I have used a Boccieri Heavy Putter, A4 model, for a few years.  This was to my knowledge, the first counter weighted putter brand used on the pro tour. The counter weight is in the shaft, so you could use the grip of your choice.  I just purchased a new MLA Tour mallet and have added the heaviest weighs in the kit to the putter head and installed a Gravity 1.0 grip trying to get about the same feel as my old A4, but with better alignment.  The feel is not quite the same but the results are slightly better. I do prefer counterbalanced putters and the heavy overall weight keeps my stroke more consistent.

Thanks all.

Have both - STRONGLY prefer the gravity grip. It's not just about the weight, it's about the shape of the grip & location of the weight, which results in much better face control for me.

Between those two I also strongly prefer the gravity grip as well.  I think what does it for me is that it fits in my palms pretty much perfectly.  It maintains decent feel.  I recently took off my pistol Gt 2.0 in my regular usage putters and went back to either pingman or GG for feel purposes.  The SS grips just remove too much feel for my liking.

I have the GG on my ER2 and the SS with 50g CC on my Spider X, and I vastly prefer the feel of the Gravity Grip. The Gravity Grip really does a great job of taking the hands out of the stroke, and it fits into my palms perfectly.  With the SS, I have to make a conscious effort to grip it the same every time, and the slight slipperyness can be annoying.  I think the weights are pretty much equal at just over 100g.

I've never been a fan of SS grips, but I do love the GG. It works great in my ER10, so I ordered one for my Sik. Unfortunately it made the head feel too light on that one, so I ordered another deep-in-the-palms (P2) grip that didn't weigh so much. It's still in the mail, but it could be another good option.

would love to hear what you think about that. Id like to put a GG on my blade putter but the weight / balance would be all wrong
