Stronger grip=much easier to keep trail elbow in front and stop EE

Ive been swinging pretty well recently, but, I know that my intent to keep my trail hip deeper, for longer, just feels too much like a band aid. Ive been toying around with the pre-set drill to prevent arm over run and keep my elbow from getting too far behind my trail hip.

Ive noticed a few things about the pre-set drill when I get back into a regular address position:

1. The "pit" of my trail elbow is pointing much more counter clockwise (im a lefty).

2. My lead hand grip has strengthened considerably.

Over the last week, these two things have made a significant change to how my trail elbow feels in the backswing. Ive noticed that my elbow "feels" like it stays much more in front of my hip and I dont have to feel like my trail hip is frozen waiting for my elbow to fall back in front of me. Obviously this also helps my tendency to EE also.

This set up feels so much more how the arms naturally move. Ive fought a weak-ish grip in the past, but Ive never pushed it to a position this strong. Really good results so far. It very much feels like this Clement video. He gets specific about the strong grip at 6:00. Notice how much more his elbow is in front when he has a strong grip.

Such an important lesson. If you strengthen your grip you have to change your body alignment at setup. Something I have learned the hard way after strengthening my grip. Wish I had watched this video awhile ago!

Came across this Mone grip video. At 3:50, this is exactly what I feel with the elbow.

Im sure these grip fundamentals are obvious to some, but me being plagued for years with a weak grip is an understatement. The one and only time I took lessons, Ihad an instructor that was huge on a neutral grip.

What I really had was a weak grip. I took that as the gospel and ran with it.
