Club Champion long game fitting this morning

Really happy with my whole bag but I’ve never had a driver fitting so I thought WTH and booked one. Went this morning and surprisingly to me the TM M6 gave me consistently higher ball speeds than everything I hit. It was 9 mph faster than my current M2, does that sound possible?? For what it’s worth my driver SS was 93-95 pretty much the whole fitting.

I was there 2 hrs and hit virtually every shaft / head combo they had. The 3 wd came out with the same result as well. The 3wd was only 10-15 yards shorter than the driver.

Didn’t even hit any Hybrids, the Adams do everything I need them to and then some.

It was a different shaft but my ball speed was higher with almost every shaft other than my GD DI6. The 9 mph difference was with the Ventus 6s. Gave me the best overall numbers by far with the M6 head. Now I have to watch the BST every minute possible to find one.

They flipped the "customers old setup" button on the Launch Monitor.

Having been thru a Club Champion fitting, I have to agree. I thought the whole thing was smoke and mirrors, and I don't believe a word of what they said. It's a lot of flashy technology built on a false model. The shaft is not the "engine" of the club. If you want to improve someone's ball speed, improve their contact. The shaft is one component of that but not the only one.

I must admit that I went into this thinking the same thing. And still do to a point, that’s probably why I have never gone before. But it had been raining here for a while and I knew I wouldn’t get to play so I booked the fitting. I’ve easily wasted $200 on golf clubs that didn’t work out before. Believe it or not they wanted $1900 for the driver and 3 wood if I bought from them. That’s frikkin crazy for 2 clubs.

I dont think it's fishy at all, really. Different shaft/head combos produce different very different feels for me - resulting in some combos where I can barely hit the broad side of a barn let alone the sweet spot (higher ball speed zone). Other combos are way easier for me to find that trampoline spot. And of course what works best for me might be worst combo for someone else.

To give another perspective on how many factors there can be. When I'm swinging a driver that's too "light" for me, I can tend to flip or release early which results in weak, spinny, glancing blows. CHS is there, but smash is 1.41-1.44 and there's nothing I can do to change it. Put an 80g shaft in my hands, and miraculously the smash rises to 1.48-1.50 and I can feel the ball compress on the face. Could be the same driver head, just a different shaft and the ball speeds go up big time.

I have to disagree. I game the original M1. I can switch out my AD DI 7x right now for the Silver Rouge 7x it came with and my spin RPM's will drop by a 1K points. However, this shaft gives me less control and accuracy compared to my DI, while also producing a lower, less optimal ball flight. I came to this conclusion by doing my own testing w/ launch monitors plus addtional on the course testing. Having said that, I have a 110-115 SS, so maybe my numbers can vary more significantly as opposed to someone w/ a sub 100 SS. But personally for me, a shaft can make the world of difference.

At the end of the day, they are going to try to find something that is “better” for you. Better may mean different things, most efficient delivery, faster CHS, faster ball speed, etc. I’m intrigued to try a fitting, but want to go in with the mindset of understanding what exactly is “better”. Having watched a lot of TXG on YT, I guess I am hoping for that level of analysis.

Well picked up the M6 driver with a Ventus 6s from a fellow wrx this morning on the BST. So if it ever quits raining here it will make its course debut. Hoping for a long honeymoon !!!!!,
