So did I when I did the big move from X100. was heavy, wanted to slow my tempo just a touch didnt want to feel like I was force loading.

I tried to Modus 120 in stiff and X stiff.

Then for the heck of it 1150gh in stiff. Fell in love.. got a touch more height for launch over the modus, and a bit more over the X100

More so.... CHEAP and abundant shafts compared to special ordering the Modus. With that....the modus "feels" Soft to flex due to bend profile.

The 1150 as well BUT produced slightly better results and HALF the cost.... so economical choice... 1150GH's....

Nippon 125 if you want slightly lighter weight (about 5 grams)

Nippon SPB if you want the same weight

The bend profiles are almost identical

I’ve gave shafts in that 115 weight range don’t think can ever get the timing right. 120g with Project X LZ was about the limit. Not sure if 1150GH would really be a good replacement.

How much are you putting the hard stepping into being the difference?

Yups 115 range was a big change from X100 @ 130gram so there was a learning curve but I wanted something again that was less burden on the body.

The flight again was higher. Between the modus was about the same height. When you say moon balls what is moon balls... 100ft looks like moonballs but when you setup to an optimizer that is a good peak height, what are your swing speeds to edify, what spin are looking for. For irons the intent is to get the anticipated distances with control for the shot. So decent angle and spin. The ball reacts how you want it.

The bend profiles again are slightly different the feel is a little different but again it ended up working for what I wanted. So again data and goals?

Really it was just balls that ballooned and were dead in the wind. I have no issue with getting the ball in the air. Dont have any recent data, I really looking for something that might be about 5-10gs lighter by maintain the same flight as S400 with same or less spin.

just curious. For years I was told I hit the ball too high, I never had an issue getting the ball in the air either... for the longest time I fought going to a fitter (Stubborn) till one day I realized what I thought was right from players better than me just had a different game....and my ball flight was almost 25ft lower then optimal it was just 25ft higher then the guys I played with LOL...

Anyways S400 are 130 grams... you want to 5-10 just get s300..... most lighter shafts have that byproduct of helping with launch so if launching is an issue then its really picking based on bend profiles and how you load the shaft. Modus/Nippon, NS pro modesl, do help get the ball in the air... so might not be what you are looking for... Great shafts though!

If you like that Graphite Design TP, I suggest maybe 130S, straight in or possibly soft-stepped once. Otherwise SPB S or SPO S, 120X (close to S400 but lighter) or maybe Tour125 Stiff if you want DG performance but kick feel of KBS.

Modus 120x is a higher flight, but I hit a high ball anyway. Feel and numbers were pretty similar with a higher apex on the 120x

The 125 seems like it might be the best option. You don’t think 125 S would play too soft in comparison to S400?

I don't think so. I felt like 125X played very close to X100. S400 as an X-flex replacement, had a tendency to really spin on me, go way left. I liked the weight and feel, but I had to like 3/4 swing it all the time. I haven't spent too much time with 125S as 125X was a perfect fit from the start.

This is exactly why I settled into the Nippon line..... the X100 are a pretty stout shaft, It does require a pretty aggressive swing to load and the 130gram shafts are demanding over time.

While I know the actual Modus plays slightly different from my 1150GH tours in stiff. It has a similar feel as generally speaking the bend profiles have a somewhat similar reaction.

With the Nippons, I could swing with a little less aggression and slow my tempo a little to conserve energy. Yet obtain similar distances with a less aggressive swing. (likely the higher launch and spin over the X100). It has been said in prior post that the Nippon Line "FEELS", less stiff to flex then comparative line, but I dont think it does, its just the "feel"/kick/bend profile that makes if feel that way in my opinion.
