Got the TS3 21* hybrid to test against my 818H2. I have both the Tensei Pro White 90HY Stiff and Atmos Tour Spec HB Blue 8S that I will test against one another to see which one beats the other out. So far the profile is to my liking and the TS3 has a deeper fact than the 818H2. Comparison pics of the 818H2 vs the TS3 to show the offset. The original thread for the release of the TS hybrids showed a lot of offset in the TS3. To me at least in the 21* its not that much more than the 818H2

Well after some more testing with the hybrids. The 818H2 beat out the TS3. More consistent strike wise from the 818H2 and starting to remember why I love the 818H2

    Huge thank you to

    On -, @GolfWRX ,
    On -, @TaylorMadeGolf and
On -, @knudson81 for putting on such an awesome giveaway and selecting me as a winner!. The irons are incredible looking and I cant believe that these are in my bag! Top line, offset everything about the new P790's are incredible.

So about me. I am a 10.6 handicap currently and am an competent ball striker but it is not my strong suit. My bag has recently transitioned into one that is going to be more forgiving because why not? I need all the forgiveness I can get. I currently play the Callaway Apex '19 5-PW with Modus3 105 Stiff shafts +1/2" over standard and 2* upright. Love the irons and shot some pretty low scores with them. Before purchasing the Apex irons I had been eyeballing the thread for the new P790's and even told

On -, @TIM929 that I wish I would've waited and got them because they just look so good and I loved the minimal offset in the long irons and how they look in the bag.

I was informed I was a winner on 08/19 and figured I would go and get fit at my local Roger Dunn Golf Superstore in SoCal. I went through a thorough fitting with their TaylorMade rep who had me hit the stock DG S300 VSS shafts 1* upright and standard length. Was not getting along with the shaft so we tried the Modus3 105 Stiff and the 790 head and shaft combo did not work for me. I explained to the fitter that I previously played PING i210's with Project X LZ 120 6.0's so we swapped the shaft out and BOOM....super consistent ball flight, really tight dispersion both front to back and side to side. This was the winning combo for sure. The fitter ultimately told me I should get the specs to match the Apex irons I have been playing for consistency purposes so we settled on the P790's at +1/2" over standard and 1.5* upright with the Project X LZ 120 6.0 shafts.

Flash forward to Monday of this week and my irons arrived. I took them to my local shop to get the stock shafts changed out, lie's adjusted and length determined along with adding Golf Pride MCC +4 standard grey grips (+ 3 additional wraps). I took my new irons to the PGA Tour SuperStore in Irvine, CA and used their GC Quad launch monitors using Titleist ProV1x golf balls and below are my numbers for the 4-PW in the set that were sent to me after 10 shots with each club

After hitting them on the GC Quad launch monitor I went to my local outdoor range to test on grass to check for any of those so called "hot spots". I hit out of tight lies, thick rough that I had poured water on to simulate morning dew and rough (my enemy).

Feel/Sound: The new P790's exceeded my expectations ten fold in terms of feel/sound. I know this is subjective but they feel better to me than the Apex line of irons. Not so much a "tock" or "clank" at impact but more a muted/soft "thud" feeling/sound.

Looks: The P790's just look ****. At address there is little to no offset in the long irons and suttle offset in the scoring clubs. The top line is thin but not too intimidating for a so/so ball striker like myself. The one thing I love bout these as well is that you cannot see the back of the iron at address in the long irons.

Performance: The P790 had very similar traits to my gamer Apex irons but the feel and turf interaction is where they shine. My ball speed numbers and descent angle numbers were very surprising and the shaft/head combo will be perfect for this set. I will have to adjust my hybrid now to go from a 21* to a 19* just because of how long the 4 iron goes in the set but an easy adjustment. I never hit the previous generation P790's because I felt they were too intimidating of a club to hit but when I realized they are more forgiving than the i210's I played, I should've looked at these clubs a long time ago.

Forgiveness: I think the P790's shine in this category for such a compact club. I had several bad swings put on them whether it was toe'd or off the heel and my dispersion did not suffer. There was no loss of distance on those off center strikes and the ball still ended up near my intended target.

Overall: These are my new gamer irons. I have ditched the Apex irons as I feel I get similar numbers to my Apex irons but they look and feel that much better. Getting fit before the irons arrived helped with my decision as well as it really got me dialed in to the new set.

Hopefully this helps those guys on the fence about theses clubs whether you have the previous first generation P790's or are in the market for new ones these things are the real deal.

I will be playing my first round with them on Sunday and will report back with their performance!

Well pulled the trigger on a 19* TS2 hybrid with the HZRDUS Smoke Black 80g 6.0 shaft. Hit it outdoors today and it beat out the TS3 and 818H2. This thing is super forgiving and turf interaction is great.

Took the TS2 and 818H2 on the course today and used them 2 times each and on the range about an hour before hand. 818H2 has a better sound and like the added adjustability. I'm going to have to do a little more testing for the 19* hybrid spot

Went and did a thourough test on GC Quad with my TS2 3W(15), TS2 19 Hybrid, 818H2 19* Hybrid and TM P790 4 iron. The TS line for whatever reason I want to like but the sound and feel is just off to me. I found the most consistent gapping with the 818H2 in the 19* hybrid spot and that is going to be in the bag I will be getting rid of the TS2. Gapping:

    3W - 244 Carry/265 Total
    TS2 19* - 214 Carry/230 Total
    818H2 19* - 222 Carry/240 Total
    4 Iron - 211 Carry/228 Total

We’ll spin is real low and decent angle is about 36 degrees with the 19 degree hybrid so going to try out the TS2 5 wood for that 220-240 yd range club. Picked up a Tensei Pro White 70 to put in it

Well the 5 wood experiment didn't last very long. Went to a grass only range in addition to using LM numbers with the TS2 18* 5 wood vs 818H2 19* hybrid vs TS2 19* hybrid. So far after getting the settings squared away the TS2 19* hybrid surprisingly is in front. Will need to do more testing to see which one performs the best. Used the 19* TS2 hybrid in my round yesterday and had about 250 yd layup on a par 5 and rolled it up about 9 ft from the hole for an eagle putt. We'll see how the this spot in the bag turns out moving forward. The 5 wood is just too big of a club to hit out of rough and to get good contact on the ball. Im not always in the middle of the fairway so the hybrids help in that sense.

Just got a new club to experiment with. Buddy of mine sold me his gently used M5 5 wood. Put a Tensei Pro White 70 stiff in it and so far it’s promising. Super straight ball flight and love the look

Well I’ve been trying to find a 220 carry club and have been going back and forth with a 19* hybrid and 5 wood. So instead of fitting myself I went and got fit and the fitted and I found the best fit was the 21* Titleist TS2 hybrid with the Tensei AV Blue 70HY stiff shaft. A little softer shaft than I would have fit for myself but found the club head really came through the ball nicely. Also helped with flight and spin. Definitely staying in the bag

Well the jury is still out on the wedges. I put in DG S200's in them because unfortunately out on the course the Z-Z115 was just too light for touch shots and full shots. Will compare to my SM7's a little to see which one stays in the bag.

Now the TS2 21* hybrid is definitely a winner. I had a 220 front pin location on a Par 5 yesterday, ball was below my feet and tried to go for it in two after a long drive. Landed just short of the green and gave myself a chance for eagle. Great flight, if it wasnt for the morning dew when I was playing Im pretty sure there wouldve been a little more roll to get me closer to the hole. Second time using it was on a par four that had a 250 to front of the fairway before water comes into play and is a layup. Tee'd up the 21* and rolled to about 230. Great, Great club, never wouldve thought to go with the 21* rather than the 19* in my set but its perfect.

The bag......I hate to say this but I'm pretty sure its the best bag purchase I have ever made. Has plenty of pockets, fits in the cart perfect and isnt too large like a cart bag. Zero club tangle and looks good to boot.

I love them. Surprisingly consistent once I got fit for the shaft. Just pretty much point and shoot. Didn’t bend the lofts and do anything to tweak trajectory just got the PX LZ 120 in them now so a little heavier than the stock shafts
