What did the Lamkin REL Ace users move on to?

Lamkin is no longer making this and I'm down to my last 6 after buying out a supply from Golf Galaxy over a year ago. What did my fellow REL Ace users move on to? Not a fan of Tour Velvets. The REL Ace had a perfect blend of softness and tack w/ out a harsh texture that I haven't really found anywhere in the GP line.

Recommendations please?

UTX seem firm and slick to me, so I moved to crosslines. They are made with ACE material now I believe. When I install them I don't stretch them to full length. I install them 1/4" short of full length and it gives them a softer feel like the REL. I might go a 1/2" short next time.

... Long time REL use and I also switched to UTx. I don't use a glove and ned max tackiness. The UTx is just as tacky as the REL _**IF**_ you wipe it down during your round. I am used to wiping mine before almost every shot and the UTx works great when I do. If you don't wipe it with a wet towel, they get slick much quicker than REL's.

@bcsquare - I had just heard about a Z5 Plus model that simulates +4 wraps on the lower hand like the Golf Pride MCC +4. If I can find some locally, I'll give those a shot as well. Thanks for the input!

Been looking for a good replacement, but nothing so far has come close to the feel I get with the RELs, just gonna keep scrounging the bay and online for discounts, have about six left of my supply. I don't mind the UTx, but it's not a direct replacement of the RELs at all. Never liked the original Crossline but if they're making them with the Ace material, that'd probably be the closest comparable.

I never liked the RELs, but fell in love with the UTx. I'm partial to STD Reds, and they've discontinued those. Someone on here pointed me to a deal on Diamond Tour or Hurricane or some such website, I bought 4 dozen before they sold out. As with most grips, if you take care of them and aren't playing 200 rounds/year, they'll last a few seasons, so figure I've got quite a few years left of UTx. In all honesty, I'll usually swap irons before they even come close to needing new grips, so first-world problem.

I've always been a Lamkin fan from the iLines to the REL ACE's. I switched this year to the Crossline Plus and am pretty pleased so far. Good tackiness and a little thicker bottom hand like the MCC Plus 4's

Hurricane golf is still selling them in standard black for $2.99 a pop. Is this the grip you want?

https://www.hurricanegolf.com/clubmaking/golf-grips/lamkin-rel-ace-3-gen-grip.html

I know it's just putting off your problem but I have ordered that exact grip from Hurricane and can vouch for them and their service.

Wasn't even aware of the Sonar Tour till you mentioned it. Thank you! I did NOT like the looks of the original Sonar.

I didn't like the original Sonar but this one feels promising, I am trying that and the UTX to see which grip I am going with this year.

A little off topic but I played tonight and had the UTx on a couple clubs and the new Sonar Tour on a couple clubs. I think I prefer the new Sonar Tour. Felt a little softer but with more texture. Both grips were very good but that was initial impression. Playing tomorrow as well

Have you tried the new Sonar Tour. It’s got great texture, a little tackiness and not too firm, but not soft. I bought one played it a few rounds and now have it on all my clubs.

The Utx cord content is pretty easy on the hands.

Lamkin has discontinued so many of their products that he’s liked.

Maybe it’s time to go back to tour velvet or wraps from GP.

So I have about 3 round s with the Sonar Tour and love these grips a lot, perfect tackiness and feel. On another note because I loved these so much I ordered the Players cord with the redline down the middle (ordered online via Lamkin directly) and love those on my wedges. The best by far cord grip I have used soft but stern, coming from golf pride for years I have to say the quality of Lamkin is top quality. Even the packaging they sent the grips in is superb!

If you go on Lamkin's site, and select products, there is a link for REL A.C.E. grips. It takes you to a listing of all the Crossline models. That may mean nothing. It does make me wonder if the new Crosslines are all made with the same material as the REL A.C.E. grips were. I'd love to know the answer, as the REL's were fantastic grips.
