7 Hour Layover In ATL

Pretty self explanatory, we have a 7 hour layover in ATL on the way to the Dominican, time to get 9 or 18 in? What is the best course we could comfortably get to and back and be worth going to as my wife and I will have to rent clubs. TIA!

Others may say different but I doubt you could do it without more duress than a round of golf would be worth. Maybe at a certain perfect time of day arrival with the gate for de-boarding open and staffed with eager operators,

unimpeded access out to the taxi/uber pick up, a smooth no delay ride to whichever course and a tee time no more than half an hour after arrival at the course. No matter how many holes you try to play, everything will have to be done in reverse order,only this time you will have to go through security for boarding which is hard to predict how long that will take.

Good luck if you try it. Let us know if you pull it off as some on this forum (myself included)can learn from your experience.

Think of it as a 5 hour layover. You will lose at least 2 hours in traffic if you travel more than 5-10 miles from HJAIA, guaranteed!! Best bet would be to play College Park 9 hole course. It's only a couple miles away from the airport. Good luck!

Only one option is viable and worth the hassle. Have your buddy who is a member at Piedmont Driving Club pick you up curbside, take you to the club for your round, and return you back curbside in time for your flight.

Go play as many holes as time permits. It’s the only course worth a play close by.

Agree with Wolf Creek....closest and it's a pretty good golf course....I'd play it a lot more if it was on the north side of town.

I haven't traveled internationally in a while. Does security allow you to actually leave the airport and return when you're on connecting flights?

This, in my opinion, is not a feasible nor good idea.

I agree that there is not enough time nor a good idea. Between the time to deplane and get to the course and go though security at the international terminal, you will not have as much time as you think. Also would you want to spend a couple hours in a tin can sitting next to a person that just got playing 18 holes of golf.
