Tough to go after a major. Field still have Rose, Molinari, Bryson, Xander and Fowler (half of the top 10) and Rahm at 11. Additionally have others like Spieth, Furyk, Finau that most people who watch some golf know. Then an a** load of good players/former major winners such as Zack Johnson, Kaymer, McDowell, Oosthuizen, Walker, Casey, Poulter, Billy Ho, Kisner, and many others with tour wins and guys often in contention. Overall seems decent to me. I'd buy a ticket if I was in DFW.

Colonial is excellent viewing for those going. I prefer the back nine. 10 green, 17 green, 11 tee and 18 tee are easy to bounce back and forth. if it is not blocked by stands now, behind 13 tee (which is a par three) you can see 12 green, all of thirteen, tee shots on 14 and second shots on 11 without moving around too much. If you want to sit and chill out, the stands on 9 are fun. that's a cool hole. courses like this where the tees and greens are close together are easy viewing if you have a game plan. have fun!

They’re not doing it any favors is what I am saying. Don’t forget it’s also the week before Memorial. The players love Colonial as they always have. However they cant be expected to continue 3 weeks straight, and thats considering if they didn’t play the week before the PGA. So if this continues then I just wonder about it.

Parking's at TCU...buses come by often. The grandstand behind 5 is a good place to watch approach shots coming in. About a third of the field will be having to manufacture some sort of shot from the left rough as the players avoid going right at all cost. It's the toughest hole on the course. The practice range is right there, too, so you can catch that if you'd like. If you like to camp out, 16 is a good par 3, the green there is the most undulating.

If you're a walker, try the 17-18 loop. Two good holes.

And wear sunglasses. The views outside the ropes can be awesome.

If new to on-site, consider to follow a pairing with some pros you like, but not the celeb pairings. When you follow for several holes you get a feel for the actual game, and if not the celeb pairings, you get close to it. And the guys are really different from when you see them on TV. Nowadays when the ET comes to Sthlm I will come to the course in time for the last sunday pairings to start and follow the last 2-3 pairings all the 18 holes. When you know the course you know little shortcuts, places to stay for a whil eand so. Its like creating your own show. And you get some exercise.

As for parking, I think that it is the same everywhere. Parking lots far from the course but good shuttle bus transportation. Read the directions on the tournament site.

2019: SoF 391, 1st place points 54 (a very slight drop, it would be no change if Justin Thomas didn't WD through injury)

2018: 412, 56

2017: 319, 50

2016: 365, 52

2015: 312, 48

Conclusion: The move of the PGA to May made the field a little better at the Byron Nelson (see that thread for the numbers) and did not hurt the field at the Colonial.

you said it's "starting to suffer", meaning the "suffering" began in the past ... when has it suffered in the past, before the new schedule? ...

9 of the top 20 in the OWGR are teeing it up, for a "standard" PGA Tour event the week after a major that seems good to me.

[size=2]Titleist 910D3 8.5°
TaylorMade M3 15°
Titleist CB (710) 3-PW
Callaway Mack Daddy 4 Chrome 54° S Grind & 58° C Grind

The tournament sponsor has changed to Charles Schwab with I believe a 5-year commitment ... very positive. I think the other thing Colonial really has going for it is the players love the course because it isn't wide-open bomb-and-gouge but rather an old-style tree-lined course requiring more shot making ... allows alot of players to be in the mix. And from an on-site fans perspective it's excellent ... several places with multiple greens and tees close to each other, on both nines.

i agree ... didn't understand or don't know how it has "suffered" previous to the schedule change, nor how one can determine it is suffering now ... people seem to think every tournament must be a tier 1 tournament equal to the memorial ... most are not tier 1 ... but this is one of the better ones, actually ...
