OT: Trying to find triangular/square tube type boxes that used iron sets get shipped in?

I'm not sure if they are long enough but checkout any local guitar stores (if applicable). Many companies ship cheaper guitars in triangular boxes that might work.

Those both have boxes, but the price is way high, specially UPS store. I'm going to check some pro shops and see if they have any left over from their stock that gets delivered or if they'll hold them for me when they receive new irons. My issue is I have 5/6 iron sets that I'm going to sell. Online the 4x4x48 boxes are cheap, but I would have to buy 25 @ $1.70 or so per unit. I may just do that. I got burned at the UPS store having to buy a box to ship a set and they charged me $28 for one box. It was a guitar box basically.

I believe the USPS gives away their triangular Priority boxes FREE.

The caveat is that those say Priority and so they'll charge you for Priority. However, that's only a couple dollars more so long as you're not going cross-country.

The other day I walked out with 4 or 5 in hand having paid literally nothing.

I haven't had any issues shipping golf clubs via USPS so it's what I recommend due to their lower costs. In fact, the only shipping issues I've had involved amplifiers being sent via UPS and admittedly some amplifiers just have a tendency to sometimes break.

Boxes are free, they'll even deliver them to you. Then ship FedEx as they love seeing customers using other services boxes.

Isn't USPS the cheapest alternative in most cases though?

Haha! I have a couple, but most of my "extra" iron sets have come from either Goodwill or another local source for no charge. I think I have somewhere between 10-15 sets and only paid more than $20 for 2 of them. Looking to thin the heard a bit. Need a new driver. My old FT Tour finally cracked last week.

To ship a set of irons? Heck no! FedEx.

Buy the new driver... it will come in a box

As stated by others, my garage is full of boxes from previous purchases. If for whatever reason I run out I go to the local pro shop and usually get one for free. If I get a staff member that doesn't recognize me, sometimes they'll charge me $2.

Just go to USPS online. You can order from them on the website and they will include the shipment of boxes in your daily mail for free. I have occasionally had to add a few inches to the end of their boxes for longer items, but its still worth it at a cost of FREE. You in can just chop the end of a second triangle box off and tape it to the first box if extra length is needed.

You better watch - someone’s gonna give you a lecture about that not being strong enough to ship a club in, then they’ll tell you how they package their clubs in a hardened uranium box encased in a double layer of concrete.

Personally, I just do the tape two boxes together like you (if I don’t have extra club-specific boxes laying around), and purchase enough insurance to cover the item if the post office destroys it. I ain’t got time to package my clubs in a bulletproof container. Shipping insurance is one of the best deals out there, when you finally have to use it.

It's true. I've been slapped around before because of my recommendation on the taping. LOL. Since then I have been reinforcing the inside of the boxes with 3 pieces of rebar. It scratches the hell outta all the clubs in the box, but damn its strong. It also increases the weight something fierce, but hey, gotta keep that merch safe!

But in all reality, you're probably not using the boxes to fit a driver (would a driver head even fit in one of those things?). So maybe you have to extend the box and extra... 3-4" to fit a whole set of irons? If you (not YOU GoIrish, just a general 'you') can't figure out how to properly secure an extra 4" of cardboard to the end of a box... welp... I got nothing for ya.

Like some of the other guys have mentioned here, I can't say that I've ever had to go buy one. In fact, most of my trouble at home starts with the wife noticing that I've suddenly got TOO MANY boxes in my stash...

I work at a Nissan dealership. We get shipped things in crazy looking boxes all the time. We also get TONS of boxes that would fit putters, iron sets, drivers, golf bags, entire sets, boxes that will fit a push cart that is stuck and will not fold, etc...... Go to a car dealership and go to the parts dept, ask them if they have any boxes you can have? You will probably leave with $300+ worth of boxes and shipping material for free.

I kept saving them myself when they came in. My garage looked like a UPS hub during Christmas time. My wife finally had to get me to throw 90% away.
