What Wedge Shafts to compliment PING AWT 2.0 Iron Shafts?

So if I have AWT 2.0 stiff shafts in my irons and I'm buying a non PING set of wedges, what wedge shafts are you all playing? I was thinking Modus 120 would be the best/closest shaft given the AWT gets heavier down in the wedges. Difficult to find the Modus Wedge shafts from OEM custom offerings so those are out.

Curious to hear what other AWT 2.0 shaft users are playing in their wedges. Thanks!

Not sure if you want equivalent or heavier shafts in your wedges.

Nippon Modus 120 appears a good starting point. S-flex =114 grams, just a bit heavier than AWT 2.0 (110 gr.) in short irons/wedges. Modus 120 billed as rigid tip to control trajectory and spin, but softer butt and mid-section for smooth swing feel.

Also consider KBS; these two standards would match AWT for weight:

* KBS Tour 105: Stiff flex = 110 grams, delivers "higher ball spin and higher trajectory."

* KBS Tour V: Stiff flex = 110 grams, features "features larger outer diameters, resulting in a stable tip section and tight shot dispersion... and less ball spin."

Note: Both V and 105 are standard iron shafts, not wedge flex. KBS wedge-specific shafts used as stock shaft in some OEMs.

I recently changed from AWT 2.0 in R flex to Modus 105 (also in R). The AWT 2.0 and Modus 105 feel pretty similar to me and both of them made my Vokeys with Dynamic Gold shaft feel too heavy and stiff by comparison.

So I got the Modus Wedge shaft which is slightly heavier than my iron shaft but matches up really well in heft, balance and feel (for me at least). So I'd pair that up in a heartbeat with AWT shafts if I'm ever back into Ping irons.

The AWT 2.0 is pretty close to 110 grams in the pitching wedge at playing length. The Modus 120 is 114 at 37". It will be closer to 105 at playing length. They also have very different bend profiles. The AWT 2.0 has a very similar feel to the Modus 105. The 120 will feel very different.

You could find an AWT wedge shaft cheap somewhere online and reshaft. The modus 115 or 125 wedge would probably be the closest other choices. Maybe even a Modus 125 iron shaft but it would be quite a bit heavier.

Not disagreeing at all with Smokey227's comments but wanted to add one other personal experience.

I've had a long-term love affair with various generations of Vokey wedges. Always the the stock DG shaft. But then again for many years I played iron shafts too heavy for my weak and slow swing (DG, PX, XP115, etc.) When I got into Ping irons with 100g (ish) shafts it helped a lot with my iron swing but my wedge game gradually became atrocious.

Moving into the Modus wedge shafts (mine are spec'd at 111g) it took a couple months but gradually I'm able to hit better shots with wedges more often than I have in years. So definitely get that match correct for your own game!!!
