10.5* 910 D2 head to 8.5*? Lower flight and spin rates expected?

I launch my 10.5* 910 D2 head on a nice high flight, but the spin rates are too much currently. I love the head itself though and fight it to be super consistent, especially with the shaft I have in it. My question is, will going down to an 8.5* head lower the spin a decent amount to where I should see some distance gains, albeit probably not huge?

Perfect world; each 1° of loft you drop your spin should drop roughly 300 rpm.

If he's not sensitive to face angle at address, or does not sole the club prior to swing. I always try to encourage people to pick the neutral head number, then toy around. Too many possibilities creep in when you start to mess around with an adjustable, while chasing a loft.

Vertical gear effects over rules ALL parameters, static and dynamic loft included, so if launch is good, DONT go down on loft, but follow this DIY so you can improve your impact on the face, then you will get spin levels under control if its to high now.

We only need to move impact about 2/8 or 1/4 of an inch UP on the face to cut off close to 500 rpms who is what you can expect from 2* lower static loft, IF impact remains the same, so you can actually GAIN launch angle and DROP spin at the same time, and thats what gives the long bombers.

If you follow this DIY you should be able to get to Trackmans optimum numbers, and if you make it really good, over and beyond, all WITHOUT loft or swing change, its ALL about where we make impact in the face, and this DIY helps you to tune up and dial it in to make that happen.

Trust me, it works, and there is NO need for special tool or anything, its simple stuff really and cost a roll of lead tape and maybe a new grip at the most if play length should be adjusted.

He said change to an 8.5* head, not deloft his 10.5*, nothing pseudo about that. Also shaft profile is an extremely unreliable way to change spin because as Howard said, vertical gear effect/strike location rules all when it comes to spin. Dynamic loft is ultimately what matters, and launching high with too much spin is easily remedied by lowering loft, fine tuning your strike location from there to optimize any further spin issues.

I've been doing the same thing chasing the perfect loft. But found I was teeing the ball to high. Since I hit down on it 1-2 degrees. Started teeing it lower. Ball barely above the crown and a little further back in my stance I'm hitting the center and hitting a more piercing shot rather then a high ballooning shot.
