That 3w shaft is no joke! Love seeing these "old school" heavy shafts in players' bags.

I love seeing clubs or shafts that are a good 10 years older than other stuff in the bag. You know it must be a winner!

What's the deal with the AM's getting fresh wedges? Are they allowed to take free stuff so long as they don't play for any prize money?

I think it's relaxed a little bit in recent years. I think as long as Titleist doesn't pay him to use the clubs, he's good. From the amateur status FAQ's:

    May I accept free equipment?

Yes. Even if you have golf skill or reputation, you may accept a reasonable amount of golf balls, golf clubs, clothing, shoes and other merchandise from a company or source dealing in these types of equipment (e.g., equipment manufacturer or golf shop). However, if you are considered to have golf skill or reputation, you must not advertise or promote the source of the equipment.

I see, it's spelled out pretty clearly. Thanks!

What’s crazy is the NCAA is more strict than the USGA. I believe the clubs the get have to come “through” the school and not directly to the player.
