Lead tape

Is anyone still loading up clubs with lead tape or is that generation done

Lead tape is still one of the quickest and simplest ways to find the perfect weight for you. Many still use it. Some will then use tip weights or tungsten powder and a cork down the shaft to achieve the desired weight while maintaining the unaltered appearance of the club.

I'm all about the lead tape. Use it on most everything, drivers, fairway woods, irons, wedges, putters. It's awesome.

I still use it. Wish I didn't have since the blades are so much nicer without the lead tape.

I try using it but it doesn't stay on very long.

Run out so buying another roll soon.Mid winter in NZ so not much hoing but my G20 driver has about 9 grams lead on it.Just sold an xr16 3wd that was very lite till 8+grams lead added.

Still use it to toe weight my driver/fwy/hybrid. I really like the feeling of extra weight at the toe and hot melt can't be adjusted on the fly.

Maybe people aren't using it as much these days, but people are still using it!

Big time lead tape dude, but when I look at WITB it seems the tape on pros clubs is different? Scott Piercy's bag for instance? Is this NOT tape and lead or what is it? Thanks...

Rocking some lead tape on my F9. A lot cheaper than the $30 Cobra wants for a heavier weight.

It looks stupid. If weight bothered me that much I'd pay a professional to make the solution invisible.

It's on the bottom of the club. I only ever see it when I'm putting a headcover on.

I have 2 older putters. I have lead tape on the sole.

Rub the edges with a coin or something. You need to work into it a little. I’ve never had a strip of lead tape come off....

To the Op....I love lead tape. It loves me. Lol.

I use it whenever it’s needed. I just like that you can add it til it feels right. I use it on almost every club

I am a professional and I'd rather use lead tape. But if people want to pay me big $$ for adding a x-grams of tip weight, I'm all for it.

Anyone that doesn’t have some lead tape on their clubs isn’t really a Player.

That's fair, but since I'd know it's there, it would piss me off because it feels like a half-assed solution rather than a permanent one.

No problem if you don't have an issue with it, but I just couldn't unless it was very temporary.

Makes sense. To be fair, it's highly unlikely I'd buy a club that didn't have the weight that works to begin with. At mid-single digits, my game isn't good enough to bother with tweaking for tiny percentage points anyway.

Could be why you are mid single digits and not scratch. It matters. It makes a difference. If a club feels too light it’s too light. If it’s light in the head...add weight. If it’s light elsewhere add weight. When a club feels right you hit it more consistent. If all your clubs feel right you are more consistent. If you are a 2 or a 30 hdcp it matters.

Lead tape is the most useful tuning option there is for Golf clubs, it would be a disaster if they removed it from the rules of Golf, so those who dont use it, dont know what offer they turn down. it would never "go out of style", that want happen. Leadtape = Performance improvement, and when its applied like it should, it looks cool, both on the heads and the shaft. Those who play a lighter shaft and never tried to tune up shaft weight with lead tape should try it off, its scary what a few grams of shaft weight can do when we get close to what really fits the player. (if shafts is to the lighter end like many plays this days).
