SD/IA/NE quick trip - is this doable?

One of the items on my bucket list is to play golf in all 50 states. I’m making a quick trip to the Omaha area in a couple of weeks and want to see if my plan is a doable one.

I’d like to play The Bluffs in Vermillion SD in the early AM, bounce over to Whispering Creek in Sioux City for an afternoon round, spend the night in Omaha then play Quarry Oaks...all without a tee time. Getting these 3 states knocked off the list in one fell swoop would be awesome.

For folks familiar with the area, is that trip doable? Are these courses usually busy on a Thursday-Friday?

Any other suggestions for me given a 2 day/3 state trip?

You could play two rivers or Dakota dunes (private) in SD to cut down on your driving time.

Indian creek in Omaha is also good.

Looked at The Bluffs and Wihspering Creek's online calendars and neither look to have leagues on Thursdays. Whispering Creek has a couple of events on the next few Fridays. You can knock out all three states just in Sioux City alone with Two Rivers as Ryan983 mentioned, it's on the north end of Sioux City but is in South Dakota, then play Covington Links in South Sioux which is in Nebraska.

Another course you may want to look at down by Omaha is Bent Tree just east of Council Bluffs, IA. I haven't played it but it looks to be a fairly nice course. Others may be able to give you a more accurate opinion.

**Just a note** I-29 between Omaha and Sioux City has flooded a couple of times this spring and I believe there still may be a stretch of it closed. I don't think the detour is too bad but just something you need to be aware of.

I can confirm that part of I29 was still closed as of this past weekend, had family come through that way and had to detour. I'll echo what @Cysmic said, Bent Tree seems to be pretty highly praised from others I have spoken to but I haven't played myself. Personally though, I think Quarry Oak looks like a nicer and much more visually intriguing course. Next time I get to Omaha & actually get to golf I'll be doing Quarry Oaks & Iron Horse before I ever do Bent Tree.

Bent Tree is a great layout and has been in pretty good shape the last couple years. Before the current owner it had been neglected for years. I still wouldn’t expect fast greens though. Roll great but usually in the slower side. It’s not walkable either if that matters to you.

Quarry Oaks during the week seems to be very busy with group outings. For example, next week on Thursday and Friday it will be tough to get on the course as they have large scramble/corporate events. So call in advance ,,,maybe they can fit you in early in the day or late in the afternoon... they have always been helpful in doing that .

Johnny Goodman is always a good one. if you are coming in to Omaha. might have better luck getting on. If you are going to Ashland for Quarry you could also try Iron horse.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I was able to get Iowa ( whispering creek), South Dakota (two rivers) and Nebraska (stone creek) all in ONE day! It was a long day for sure but was really fun. That freed me up to drive to Missouri to play Mozingo Lake (fantastic course) on day 2.

Now excuse me while I pop a bunch of Advil and sleep.
