Help me find a light but tip stiff/heavy hybrid shaft

I have a Mizuno CLK Hybrid in the Fujikura Speeder Evolution HB 85X (I'm told this shaft is very similar to the Atmos Blue)

I'm looking to replace the shaft with something still in the 75-85gram weight range. My favorite driver and 3W shafts are a little stiffer and/or heavier in the tip and also on the lighter side (65gram X in each). I'm wanting to apply similar logic to my hybrid.

Any suggestions on what shafts fit what I'm looking for? I've been looking at the Fujikura Pro 2.0 75g and the Kuro Kage 80X simply because they're cheap on Ebay, however I'm not sure if they fit the profile I'm looking for.

In sticking with the Fujikura Speeder theme, maybe try the Motore 8.8 Tour Spec? Those shafts still get play on tour and are very stable.

Matrix Black Tie hm3 comes in 85 gram...

Atmos Black 8, Tensei Pro White 90, Diamana Thump 90, KBS Prototype 85, Graphite Design DI or IZ 85 hybrid (more mid but still the lowest launching of the Graphite Design hybrids from what I'm told), Accra TZ5 95 if you don't mind adding a bit of weight.

If you are looking for some money savers you could source UST V2 85, Aldila Rogue Silver, Aldila NV 85, or Ping Tour 85. Another option is to look at a steel shaft. Something like the Oban 100, Dynamic Gold 105/DG SL, KBS Tour V, or Nippon Modus 105 would all fit the ball if you don't mind adding a bit of weight.

Based on the suggestions in everyone's replies, should I assume that my initial ponderings of the Fujikura Pro 2.0 75g and the Kuro Kage 80X go in the opposite direction of what I was looking for?

Everyone has suggested something in the range he specified, save for a couple of phatchris' posts. He did say 75-85g in case you missed that.

Graphite Design AD-DI 105x, is what I use in my hybrid, it simply works for me...good luck

The Motore 8.8 TS is 85g and 88g for Stiff and X-stiff respectively.

Aldila RIP Alpha 85 is the shaft you are looking for.

tip frequencies are listed for the shafts

hzrdus black isn't on the chart but it'll do the trick as well. Tensei pro white 90 at 87 grams in stiff is probably the stiffest feeling tip in that weight class, though the TX is over 90 grams.

The atmos black hybrid only comes in 9, the blue is 8 and is pretty stout for a fujikura.

Aldila Tour Green is a board, for what it's worth.

Are you suggesting it's not tip stiff? Or just that it's not tip stiff in comparison to the HZRDUS Black?

Do you think the Tour AD DI 85x would be too close to my current Speeder Evo 85x?

compared to the hzrdus. the new ad iz hybrid shaft is probably closer to what you're looking for. It also has wayyyy better feel than hzrdus anything.

The new Graphite Design tour AD IZ hybrid shaft is very good, I actually just paired it with new Callaway Apex hybrid. IZ hybrid is 85x but feels on the lighter side probably due to balance point being just slightly higher than traditional. It does not feel loose at all, compared to say the AD DI hybrid or something with a lot more kick to it. Def a solid more linear feeling load with AD IZ hybrid, worth checking out for sure.

Seems you're looking for the feel of a certain hybrid shaft. Light in static weight , feels heavy in the tip but an X S flex......... good luck in finding the combination since most shifts in the stiff/XS flex are heavier. It needs the weigh for build up the wall thickness for stiffer feel.

If you can over look the given flex printed on the shaft, try some shaft that's one flex softer ( or even a couple flex softer )...

The same set up in your driver and fairway wood are quite different than the hybrid shaft, simply because the length will give you a different feel.

Try an iron shaft in the hybrid length. It may not have the "light" weight you're looking for but the shorter length should give you similar feel that you're looking for. Can't tell you which flex to go down from the XS hybrid flex, your golf swing will have to find the right flex and tip trim.

I had a guy whom stick an iron shaft inside the hybrid head ( untipped and untrimmed ), I'd thought it was a 3 wood length but it played extra long, longer than his regular 3 wood.

Kinda an odd ball trial but it worked for him. The hybrid felt heavy, of course, but that 2 hybrid was longer than his 3 wood.
