Thank you for making this post I have been wanting to post something really similar for a while. I have been gaming the j15 cb 3-p going on 3 seasons now. I keep thinking i'm gonna change to the z785. I have only hit them in stores and loved them. Hopefully someone has gamed both and can give some insight. I'll help with what i can here. 1. I believe the sole of the j15 sole is wider than the z785. 2. I can't help with since i've only hit them in the sim. 3. They both sound great. To me the z785 sounded a little more muted but still nice. 4. I believe the forgiveness is neck and neck. They both offer enough help for even a half decent ball striker. 5 top line on the j15 i think is a little more round therefore looks a little thinner than the z785 however i believe they are relatively the same thickness. I think the j15 has a little more blade length. The overall profile of the j15 cb is bigger than the z785. As for ball flight i gained maybe 3 yards with the z785 solely because of a little less spin which was a pleasant surprise because i am a high ball high spin player that has been trying to get the spin down a little for a while. I Keep talking myself out of buying the z785 because quite honestly i'm still in love the my j15's, however if a used set of z785's with x stiff modus 120 pop up for sale i will probably snag them.

The sole on the J15cb's worked great for me on soft turf. Near perfection. Sneds and Koooch have done well with them on typically firmer pga conditions. I think sole is one of the reasons this club works so well for so many people. Def worth a try.

The sole is a little wider, but honestly I think they are the best irons through the turf I have ever played. I currently own the 745s, which I also love, but the J15s are incredible. I have demoed the 785s and they are much like the 745s to me, fantastic as well. The blade length is a little longer with the J15s, for the good or the bad, I believe this makes them a bit more forgiving, just not as compact looking. Top line thickness is greater with the Srixon's, not chunky thick but the J15s are definitely thinner looking to me. Sound, I think depends on a lot of things, especially shaft, but I don't think either will be that noticeable.. I feel like my 745s are a tad longer, can't speak to the 785s, but I like the consistency of the J15s when I need a certain yardage. I think these two irons will be very close honestly with the 785 looking a little more compact overall, so if the sole bothers you looks-wise, then the 785 may do the trick, but the J15s REALLY perform and I LOVE the sole design even though I typically hate chunkier looking soles.

@Nixhex524 you explained it pretty awesome. I will say, I’m really starting to mesh with these tour b’s that I initially thought was just a tryout. I know they are not either of these, but in the same family. They are a touch smaller and more compact than j15’s with a little more of a killer leading edge and more camber on the sole. Either way, both incredible irons. Very equal in quality and performance. I thought the bstones were a touch softer but nothing to dissuade me from purchasing the srixons. It really comes down to what you like the looks and feel of. Good luck and keep us posted op.

@wam78 i'd love to see some pictures of your Tour B's Wam. Some comparison pics if you still have the j15cb's maybe? the more im reading researching the j15cb's the more infatuated i am with Bridgestones irons. i find myself googling old models, Bridgestone Japan and then Tourspec. Just got to get over that thick sole.

Thick? I did not think those soles are thick at all, probably around the average on the market. Lot of other irons are thicker, including new Tour B X-CB. Check out my J15cb that I've had for 4 years and I much prefer J15cb over the new X-CB's. Z785 might be teeny tiny bit thinner because it has that V-sole.

@br61 thank you for the picture. You have anymore ? just need some more visuals to really trigger the buy lol.

Are you sure the Tour B X-CB are thicker than the j15cb ? ive seen a good amount of pics, tho never both sets together, but im fairly convinced the J15cb is thicker than the tour x-cb.

Check out this link, it has several direct comparison pics of the X-CB and J15 CB. They were from a thread here on the site, which I found, but the pics are gone. Bottom line is the J15 is slightly longer heel to toe, slightly wider sole, even the top line of the J15 is very, very slightly thicker. There really isn't much in it. The distribution of weight in the cavity is the biggest difference (obviously). The newest Tour B X-CB is a combination of both, just don't know it they are going to make it here to NA.

I have played both. I didn’t focus on sole width but I would say the J15CB is a tad wider. It does not play wide, it’s my favorite sole design — the turf interaction is great. I would rate the J15CB as a touch more forgiving, but only because the 785 is pretty compact, it’s not that the J15 is large.

For me the J15CB was the choice. Like the feel and performance.

Here are some pics of the J15 VS. Z745... I thought the 785 is way closer to the 745 design than the 765 was. 785 may be a little more round at the toe than the 745 but they are pretty close.

I agree, you have to be pretty consistent with searching in the bst. In the last couple of months I’ve come across quite a few sets of j15 and j40 cb all in good condition. They never last long but they are there.

Ive been playing the j15 cbs after purchasing a set on the bst about a month ago(ish).

I had been switching between the mp-5, 714 ap2, and more than anything, my old cobra pro cbs.

I cant imagine going back. Every round with them has been a pleasure. Mine have the dg pro which i didnt like at the range, but i am extremely happy with now. They set up beautifully behind the ball. I play on a mix of dry courses and occasionally some early morning sop, no issues.
