This topic of anchoring and whether it should be allowed or not has been talked and discussed ad nauseam, but it still is a source of contention on the tour, and in our groups, as well. It appears that a few PGA and

Champions Tour guys anchor. I sure wish the USGA RnA would completely allow or completely ban this putter and style. Any rule that isn't easy to apply, or easily results in people accusing others of breaking the rule, creates more problems. Bernhard Langer probably gets tired of defending himself, as do others. My regular group has a scratch golfer, who putts lights out, but takes a heap of sh..... It sure appears to me that he firmly actors, right before his real stroke. I'd like the whole issue to go away, one way or another. I'm not sure of a better way of writing the rule, but it seems to me theres got to be a solution.

But he clearly does not on his real stroke I am guessing based on your post? Why would that be an issue?

Nothing about his stroke as it pertains to anchoring is clear. He may or may not anchor, most observers swear he does, while he maintains that he does not. My issue is the unclarity. My opinion is that it's a poorly written rule.

You cannot anchor against your torso, which Adams Scott doesnt. He keeps the putter in the hands, period.

Not sure how that isnt clear

From the article: "but at some point in the stroke it can rub up against his shirt and that’s within the rule. In my opinion that’s enough of a reference to be able to control the fulcrum point." That's Pernice's opinion, but its not anchoring according to the rule. If its not anchoring, then its something else. if he wants that something else to be illegal then fine, but rubbing the shirt doesnt fit the rule's definition of anchoring, so its not, and it does not "appear" to be anchoring.
