What's the point when they can just recreate the current line in limited colorways that sell out in 10 seconds?

To bot owning flippers, not golf fans. Which I guess is their target market these days...

What size do you wear? They are all over eBay for <$100. Search for TW71.

This.

He’s just wearing his shoe from 2017. A TW71 with the laces. Only the head guys at Nike Golf know why they didn’t put out a TW18 considering he had a HUGE year. Then again, this year, no TW19 and he wins the Masters. So they force out the TW71 fast fits to make a few sales. Easier than trying to get the public to pay retail for a 2-year-old shoe that he’s actually wearing.

In other words, it’s a mess. Nike Golf had already moved beyond Tiger. They dumped the entire equipment side. They had no plans to continue a TW shoe line well after his playing career like the Jordan line has. When his TW17 line failed due to his injuries, not playing, and going back to wearing TW8’s, I’m sure internally Nike Golf declared the end of the Tiger Woods era and were content to consolidate with the skaters and let the line drift to the ether like Tiger’s competitive playing days.

It looks like Tiger will be around and a contender for a few more years. He’ll be able to contend at the Masters and the British into his 50’s IMO. Hopefully Nike Golf will regroup and put some R&D toward a reimagined TW line starting in late 2019 or for the Masters 2020. Just because he’s in his 40’s and a dad doesn’t mean his shoes need to look like Monarchs.

Well said @Augster - I’m hoping for a larger TW line as well next year, but based on the direction the golf department has been headed...I’m not sure we’ll get it. And can we go ahead and stop making gimmicky TW shoes? He’s not going to wear them, and they look terrible. Both the TW17 and the TW71 Fast Fit look like grandpa shoes. Work with him to figure out what he’d actually like to wear - and then make them for the masses.

I feel like some of the models they've produced recently could have been the next iterations of the TW line, but were just rebranded due to his injuries/struggles. The best example may be the Tour Premiere's, which could have easily been called the TW18's and do share some similarities with the TW17's.

Oh for sure. Lol.

When his Marketing team let’s him choose what he wants to wear on his own time, it’s an absolutely hideous mix most of the time. I love his Bugatchi shirts he wears occasionally, but that’s about it.

Surprised to hear this. I think Tiger looks great compared to some others. Everything seems to fit him well and sure it looks classic and simple, but not old. Nothing wrong with black pants and a grey sweater. I can’t believe some of the stuff Nike has the others wearing. Bird hats, striped cotton shirts, yellow pants...really Nike?

I guess its a matter of preference. Tiger always looks clean and presentable, I just feel like he's not as fashionable as he used to be and as some of the younger guys are now also wearing Nike. Not that Nike always does it right...sometimes their apparel is downright silly.

Why can't Nike make golf clubs again. Or at least make modern/slim fit shirts again so I have shorter tighter fitting sleeves.

I typically don't concern myself with what other grown men are wearing but I agree with you regarding some of the recent Nike offerings. Gilding the lily leads to some garish things.

It is hard to mess up a solid color polo, in just about any color, provided you get the placket, buttons and collar correct. That will stand the test of time. These color block shirts and patterns come and go and can look very dated and flat out ugly.

Replicate what Palmer and Hogan wore in today's cuts and you've got a winner imo.

So much false information in this thread.

First, it’s not young guys running it but it is young doing a lot of the work. About 2 years ago they combined golf, SB and tennis with the higher ups coming over from or having been a large part of Jordan and the SB line. They laid off many of the golf insiders and people who truly follow the game.

2nd, they were going to ride Tiger as long as humanly possible but his questionable health and limited schedule required a lot of question marks. Inside Nike, Tiger is not a hassle to do deal with, he treats many people there very well. Now he has been forced, in the past, to update equipment, but at that level not sure that is being difficult.

3, Tiger looks clean and presentable because of his tailor and desire not to give into the modern trends (I have never tried on a pair of pants and thought “these would look so much better if you could see my ankles”

4, be curious to see how the TW stuff plays out. A LOT of shops went heavy on the mock neck garbage and have it sitting in stock that they won’t be able to sell.

Can you clarify some of your points please?

1) Who or what is SB?

2) You say, "Inside Nike, Tiger is not a hassle to do deal with, he treats many people there very well." I don't follow you here. I think you are saying Tiger is easy to deal with but yet it seems Nike is not putting out items that he is actually using on the course.

3) I think I agree with you here. Someone at Nike pushed the jeggings they had Rory and J. Day wearing. Glad someone refused and told Nike they preferred to look like a man on the course.

4) Wonder who pushed the blade collars and mocks? I know TW (Tiger Woods I think is the gent we are referring to with those initials) wore the mocks ca 2002. Not a bad look but also a look that has fallen in and out of fashion. If Nike was pushing it, sometimes you go pretty far out on a limb and the limb breaks.
