Adidas Forgefiber - Quick Review

Recommended Posts

Hi All, Firstly... IMHO, these are the comfiest golf shoes out of the box that I have ever owned.

For me, up till now, this mantle had been held by Ecco having purchased a few pairs of the various versions of the hybrids. However playing in the UK, they have always lacked in the grip department..

This hasnt been my first foray into the Adidas golf shoe range, however i strayed into Nike with the TW's and others, as i started to find them a tad heavy (AdiPure ones with the weird toe cap like a cornish pasty) as I tend to walk 99.9% of the time. But then back in Feb i stepped back into a pair of 360 XT-SL's, as i was looking for something grippy and comfy... yes grippy, yes comfy but after 20+ rounds, but they gave my heals some grief initially. But they wernt really a light summer shoe...

So on Saturday, after looking about at the various options, I dropped the hammer on a pair of the new Adidas Forgefibers, they turned up today and as i had a singles match today, and the weather was looking a bit crappy, i thought i would give them a run out.

As said earlier, these straight out of the box are like putting on a pair of old slippers, a couple of dials of the BOA and they felt sturdy and secure. The BOA on these is nice and secure, a nice ratchet and a good click between secure and release. I also didnt mind it being on the side of the shoe. I also found that i didn't have to turn the dial too many times to secure them.

So, after a few holes in the rain and trudging through the deep rough to give them a good test, and then getting through to 18, these shoes didnt even show a sign of any water getting in. I actually made sure I spent as much time as i could in areas of thick grass just to see how they faired. Yep the outers changed colour due to being soaked, but nothing inside.

I only had to tighten up the BOA's once on the round, but i am putting that down to the first bit of give. Outside of that, i found these to be solid, secure and very stable. Much like the SL's they are grippy on the tee and even in wet / damp they offer more than enough grip. I deffo don't miss spikes and they are so easy to walk 18 with carrying your clubs. I also found them to be very stable to walk in.

Things were drying out after 12 holes and the shoes were changing colour as they shed the water and probably a little due to the heat of my feet. I also didn't really feel like i was wearing golf shoes. And as i type this 3 hours later, my feet feel fine and no aches.

So, initial impressions IMO..

Fit, stability, comfort, materials and construction 9.5/10

Will see how i go after a few rounds in various conditions and report back, but at this point, i will be buying the black / white ones. My only concern is that my course does have a bit of gorse and thorny stuff, so will be interested on how they fare after i have had to go in the rough to find mine or my playing partners balls a few times and also how the composition will fair when they have stretched a little more from walking...

And finally... i lost the singles match on the 15th.. nothing to do with the shoes! I just got out played!

Foregefibers are the best. Have two gray pairs will get another color - REALLY hoping they bring out another color this summer. If not, the black ones are going in the rotation. Just don't get much more comfy - although the new tour knit 360 (some goofy new name) look to be the same material, so wondering where they'll go with those.

They also don't show alot of dirt - you can wipe them off with a damp cloth and usually handles it.

I quickly looked past the seam once I tried those adipures on. Most comfortable leather shoe ever.
