Another Scotty “Is It A Fake” Question

Hi guys,

Any reason to suspect this is a fake? Also, it’s up for $225. I appreciate that value can be subjective, but is it worth that amount of money?

Looks real. This model was before most of the fakes started popping up. Might have been refinished though. Price seems about right as well.

Thanks! It’s been refinished in gun blue. I’m trying to find out by who before buying.

Can you post pics of the face side? I'd love to see what kind of milling it has.

As for who did the finish, I wouldn't worry too much about that. The job looks solid.

Shame the milling was removed from the face. This looks like an old Oil Can model.

It's still a nice putter but that is unfortunate. I can tell from the cavity mill marks that the putter at one time had exquisite face milling. The face milling on the gun blue and oil can Cameron's is probably my favorite of all time.

Would you recommend getting it ready-milled?

I wouldn't bother at this point. If the lack of face milling doesn't bother you it's not an issue. Some people actually prefer a smooth face.

Agree with Mr Hogan. Check the face of Tiger's putter - works for him and at some stage a lot of the pros liked no face milling. In fact the Pre-Titleist Classic 6 (forerunner to the Napa) had a smooth face for the entire line.

Also, she has already probably lost 5 - 8 grams and she started life as a 330g head, you don't want to make it any lighter.

I have only just started posting again of late, as the new site was doing my head in. Good to be back around!

This one went in the bag this week.

I acquired the much sort after 350g Studio Stainless NP2 head and a stepless 34" Tour shaft and Mid Size leather stitchback, put some ghost tape on the sole and voila!

The Studio Stainless was/is a famously good model and at 350g this thing is up there with any Tour stick around. It has a slightly firm feel with just the right amount of sound / feedback. :)
