I watched Trevino smack the ground to create a dirt bump to tee it with a fairway wood.

I would say a few might, but there aren’t many left laying around in a tournament. Most just probably use a regular tee

Ping G400 Testing G410.  10.5 set at small -
Ping G410 3, 5 and 7 wood

Ping G410 5 hybrid-not much use.
Mizuno JPX 921 Hot Metal. 5-G
Vokey 54.10, 2009 58.12 M, Testing TM MG2 60* TW grind and MG3 56* TW grind.  Or Ping Glide Stealth, 54,58 SS.
Odyssey Pro #1 black
Hoofer, Ecco, Bushnell
ProV1x-mostly

I never see them use even a shorter tee designed for irons or fairway woods, they still just bury in their 2 3/4" driver version.

More on this....I doubt any of them use alternate types of tees other than plain old wood.

In todays game probably never. First off they wouldn’t save a broken tee, I know I don’t. Then they’re not likely to go searching for one on the teebox. Even if one was right in front of them, probably not when they are so plentiful. Only time I can think of would be if they didn’t have one in pocket and caddy was not on teebox. But not because they just wanted a half tee. Nobody cares about that and they play on pristine courses so it’s not like they would ever have an issue driving in a 4 inch tee to 1/8 length. : )

This is actually something I remember vividly from the first "pro" event (web.com) I went to a few years back.

On the first par 3 the group I was following reached, I saw the player pull a full-length tee out of his pocket and push it all the way into the ground and I thought "I guess they don't need to go scrounging around for broken tees". I still think of it every time I'm looking for a broken tee on a tee box where I'm using less than driver, and (unfortunately for whoever I'm playing with), relay that story to whoever's near me.

I don't recall seeing broken tees on the tee box during a broadcast. I've also never been to a tournament in person. Do they have someone their that picks up the broken tees between groups?

Let me tell you what Wooderson is packin'

I have actually seen marshalls do that at The Open before. Whether they are tasked with that or not I do not know but I have seen it done.

Typically a volunteer or official will pick them up and hand them to people in the gallery (typically kids), if they want them

Different answers then others - I have Marshalled for PGA events at the tee box. At the time it never occurred to me to pay attention to the tee's the pro used, but I know for sure we were not clearing away broken tees as one of duties.

In any state or regional Q/tournament I've ever played in, this is the norm, so I can imagine it is the norm at every PGA event as well.

I fully assume that access to free tee is not an an issue. I play at a club and away course where 'free' tees are plentiful, but I still use a broken tee if I see one lying there.

Not so much about the cost of tees, but more the lack of focus that is required to search around on the ground for a broken tee.

Not sure this is something I've ever thought about before now but the answer is yes and some pros deliberately break long tees so its shorter for using on a par 3.
