Saw that. Even more interesting was the spin Ian from TXG was getting hitting it.

Hey TM. The GolfWrx Podcast with the TM guy (forgot his name) made it seem that the Bigfoot was designed for high handicap people when he said it was for people that really didn’t know how to play bunker shots.

Is this true? This wedge truly designed for people that don’t know how to chip, pitch, and bunker play properly?

I wouldn’t be that harsh. I would say if you are already a good wedge player this would help you take the next step. It would also certainly help beginners because of the bounce, sole width and extended grooves. I’m a 19 and I’m pondering a 60* to go head to head with my current Hi-Toe.

It might be marketed towards higher handicappers but that doesn’t mean lower caps can’t benefit from its tech.

Yeah, exactly. Companies have been marketing wide-sole, high-bounce wedges as making bunker play easier for higher handicaps since the 60s. Doesn't mean there's anything inherent in the design that would prevent them from being used by low handicappers.

I have played with a lot of different players over the years. It's been my experience that the majority of golfers don't know how to "chip, pitch, and bunker play properly"

I went to a golf shop today and saw both mg2 and the big foot wedges there. I thought they weren’t out for a couple more weeks? Anyways, I’ve bought ten wedges in the last month so I passed, but was still surprised.

Wish they would have offered it in more lofts.

I can see some appeal to bending one to 58* or so, depending on how you feel about offset in wedges. I really don't mind a little offset in wedges, makes them look a little more natural when they're rolled open IMO. And I like the sole design on the bigfoot, but would rather have a little less bounce, so bending it strong would work for me, though of course YMMV.

They offer it in 58 and 60 degree lofts. Maybe bend one to 56?

I hope we can customize the Big Foot wedge when it’s available to order. Would be a bummer if it’s only available in its stock form.

No but plan to on release date. From the reviews online at first I thought it was pretty gimmicky but I like the concept of it and why not get more help

So true. I'm a 1 hdcp and I would put myself in that camp, with emphasis in chip and pitch categories.

Chemical solvents will do it quick depending on which one you use. However it would not be safe for the average joe like Rick to be using it or even have access to it lol.

He may have just used a hydrogen peroxide/vinegar/salt method.but I wish he would have said. I'd like to rust them asap like that.

Maybe Vinegar and hydrogen peroxide concoction could do it but seems quick to get it that rusty

With the vinegar/peroxide solution you could get it rusted to that point probably in 10-15 minutes I'd guess. Mine are coming in Tuesday so I will be the group guinea pig haha.

I'll do a little mini write up on the process and time it took rust to take over.

So 150-200 more spin on a 10,500 spining wedge does not seem that significant. 1.5% is not worth dealing with what I feel is an ugly look. And if you hit the club 5 or 6 time in a round the rust is off the hitting area by then. JMHO

What Rick tested, rust vs raw, isn't really all that interesting, but raw vs plated is the reason raw wedges matter. When you get water between the ball and the face, you lose more spin with a plated finish than you do with a raw face. The MG2 wedges are intended to give you the spin preservation benefits of a raw face without a fully rusty look.

I personally like the look of full raw wedges, so these will take a bit of getting used to for me visually, but my MG raw 52 is already in the process of being replaced by an MG2 52.
