Just a quick glance, the “s” looks wrong, as well as the spacing between it and the 5. I don’t see the overlap strip in the white, and it appears to be missing the holographic logos in the white. Also, the rings don’t appear to have as much “fade” to them.

Is there anyway to contact the company to find out for sure? I bought this off a guy and should’ve done my homework I guess

Yours is fake. File a PayPal dispute if you paid that way.

Yes. Fake. I’ve got the same shaft (real) and I can tell you the lettering on yours is off.

Thanks but no one purchased it. It was reported as a counterfeit by a vigilant WRXer. The seller responded in this topic.

^^ Ah, gotcha. I quickly read the responses and not the original post as closely. Thanks for clarifying for me. Glad it was reported. Hopefully this thread will help a WRXer in the future.

I just found that my 4 year old AD-DI (from ebay) is counterfeit as well. :( Should have popped the grip sooner as eBay will do nothing about it. SUPER glad I bought the 3 and 5 wood set.

It had the heat label seam and everything. Looked really good.

Shoot - now I'm kinda wondering as I popped the grip off the 5w that came in a set with the 3w and it has the laser printed text which appears official.

How were you able to determine that was fake? Bought one on eBay last year would love to be able to confirm real/fake.

Oddly, I think I was wrong and it's actually legit.

My belief that it was fake came from Pro's Choice taking a look at some pics and seeing that there were no identifying numbers, stickers, etc. under the grip.  There were, however, serials on the 3w shaft that I purchased it with.

Now they DID NOT - say "hey, that's fake" - but rather something along the lines of "if there's no identifying serial number anywhere, there's a good chance it's counterfeit"

Later on when I was trying to get some SUPER old tape of the other shaft in the set (which had printed serial numbers) - I started to clean with rubbing alcohol and noticed the serial start to come off.  I then realized that I had cleaned the other shaft with alcohol as well - and that I'd rubbed off the S/N before sending the pic.

Thus, they've played well, and I'm relatively sure, I was a dummy, and they're legit (they have the seam, one had S/N and seemed real, etc.)

Ok I see. After reading a lot about counterfeits being on eBay, I am very cautious about buying on there now. Feel as if I have convinced myself they are all fake now 😞
