The brother (and sometimes caddie) of an US Amateur winner has won a major in that span. :)

PGA Tour winners

Matt Kuchar 1998 with 9

David Gossett 1999 with 1

Ryan Moore 2004 with 5

Danny Lee 2008 with 1

Bryson DeChambeau 2015 with 5

Euro tour winners

Edoardo Molinari 2005

Richie Ramsay 2006

Byeong Hun An 2009

Peter Uihlen 2010

Matthew Fitzpatrick 2013

Hovland's already had a better pro career than 2014 winner Gunn Yang.

I think Wolff will probably win more tournaments in the next few years but Hovland's game looks suited to major championships.

His swing doesn’t bother me at all, he hits it great. From the little I have watched hi I would say he needs to work on his wedge game. He’s good at smashing it, flying it long and ripping it back, but can he flight a low spinning soft shot in there? How is his touch around the green when his timing is a bit off? Tiger, Phil, Jordan can all turn 75 into 70 when they have that off day, does he have this?

The kid is a winner, he believes he is going to win, if he has the drive he will win a lot. I like them both, they will be fun to watch.

Based on what? Winning the US Amateur? No US Amateur winner since Tiger has won a major. At this point Wolff will already be playing in a couple of majors next year. While it seems unlikely there is a chance that Hovland will not have a tour card next year.

If Hovland wins the par 3 contest at Augusta he might as well call it a day and join an Ashram.

I'll admit I haven't really seen much golf from either guy, however from the little I've seen VH seems to be very accurate off the tee and has a variety of shots. As you said, there's a chance he doesn't even get a card next year but I think eventually he'll be a regular contender at the big events.

It's amazing how carried away some people get, 9 months ago we were told Cameron Champ was going to change the face of golf.

Until I see more evidence from Wolff at the moment Hovland appears to be more likely a potential major champ to me.

Still a great win for Wolff but it provides little, if any, indication of how he'll do in majors. Wolff delivered under pressure though which is always good.

Watching Wolff's post round comments on Golf Channel this morning...he needs to get some PR training pretty quick. Walking a dangerously fine line between cool and Patrick "Top 5" Reed right about now. He sounds a bit like Ricky Bobby up there, just a big hairy American winning machine who pisses excellence.

Missed the major part, but based on the limited amount of air time we've seen with both of them, I think Wolff is a better player. Right now, every event to them is like a major, so based on that, I think my answer is correct. In an incorrect way. Hovland at Pebble looked good, but it was like he was at 110% and Wolff looked like he was in control of his game yesterday without over trying.

None the less, yesterday's final round was as exciting as it gets and if these young guys can bring that out every tournament, we may soon be asking, Tiger who?

no more than any other golf swing and he's been swinging it that way for years since he grew up as a baseball player. it's 100% natural to him.
