Would you game a putter you didn’t like the look of?

Let’s assume for the discussion that price is not a factor.

If you went to a putter fitting and were told the ugliest putter in the lab was best for you. Would you buy it ? Or go with the one you really like the look of and make adjustments/ compensations and learn to putt with it?

The more putts it makes, the prettier a putter gets.

If I can't get comfortable/confident standing over the putter I won't/can't buy it just cause I'll always second guess myself on putts. I think that would not help the putter score well for me and others.

it HAS to be pleasing to the eye..id probably not buy it just because my brain is wired to do idiotic things like this

If it lines up well and I’m comfortable with how it feels and rolls absolutely.

I’ve played a few putters I didn’t like the look of and I’ve gone through four #7 style fang putters (my favorite look) that I couldn’t make any putts with.

I love me a great looking putter, but I've played far too many rounds with poor putting and a beautiful flatstick. At some point you've got to get the ball in the hole more consistently. If you can find one that does both that's the dream, the unicorn, but more often than not it doesn't line up.

I didn't care for the look of my Taylormade Si when I first got it...but when I realized how well I can put the ball on line with it I never looked back.

I did with the Nike Concept Putter a few years back. Couldn't get past the looks after a while, though it was a really good face-balanced putter.

Absolutely I would. I would use one of those giant Ping putters from back in the day if I could cut 2 putts off a round.

It's made some pretty looking putters sit on the sidelines for the last year.

I don't put any club in the bag that I don't like the look of.

If I tried it on the course, and made a bunch of putts over a sufficient time, I would putt with a potato on a stick.

I have for well over 15 years (been using an Odyssey 2-Ball).

I much prefer the aesthetics of an Anser-style putter but I'm better on the greens with anything but, lol.

If it makes me sink more putts, absolutely.

I hated the look of flow neck blades style putters but man for some reason I putt the best with them. I love the look of a Newport style, but for some reason I cant putt with them. Flow necks have grown on me. I now own 4 of them. I think you can adapt if you make more putts.

I recently bought the Evnroll Tour Stroke as I had been messing around with it at Golf Galaxy for months. I bought it as a training aid, but I'll be damned if I'm not just absolutely draining putts with this thing. It feels ridiculously stable when used in the "play" mode, as Evnroll calls it.

So... instead of using it as a training aid for a conventional putter, do I just put it in the bag? It's just so bizarre looking, and I'm dreading the comments in my group the first time I pull it out. Hopefully by the 18th green I'll have my playing partners asking to try it, though...

I’m not sure I’d ever really be fit into a putter that I hated the look of. So much of my putting is being comfortable over the ball.

Would I play an ugly putter ?.........No.......I'm shallow and vain....

But , I have gotten to the point where I can ignore a sight line on the rear flange, if the

rest of the putter looks good.......

Would I demo it? Sure, but if it didn't make an immediate strong impression I'm probably not buying.

I know that if I don't like the look of a club, it's on a shorter leash than one whose look I like. If I like the look I'll spend time working on what most of the time are my swing/stroke issues instead of blaming it on the club. It's not fair, but it is what it is.

Part of my admitted rationalizing here is that I'm presumably doing this for enjoyment, spending my money on it, and not making a living from it. There are enough choices out there (including what I already have) that if I can't find something that performs better _and_ appeals to my taste, why spend the money on it?

Now if I'm earning a living doing this or playing in some high stakes games, I'd be firmly in the 'whatever works best' camp.

No. If a putter doesn't look good to me I will never be able to accept it psychologically. My mental side over takes my performance side every time.

Directed force putter. I won this in a drawing and it looks like a branding iron but man does it just swing itself. You really can't make it twist the face unless you just have some crazy nervous tick or something. I emailed the company to see if they could make a "mini" version of it so that it would be a little more pleasing behind the ball but they said no.
