Tip stiffness of Project X 7A3/6A4 vs Motore Tour Spec .3

Recommended Posts

Hey, I see the older Project X 7A3's/6A4's (blue ones) for cheap now and I am wondering how they play compared to the .3 Motore Tour Spec's which are also very cheap now. Specifically the tip stiffness/overall stiffness of the shafts. Also how they compare to the newer Handcrafted LZ's and Hzrdus shafts. Anybody that has tried any of the PX 7A4/6A3 etc. please chime in. Thanks

Both shafts is still "high end" in my eyes and bargains....

i had a complete list of both models (all flexes) with butt and tip deflection, but that list is lost on a server closed down now, but my memory is still good, so the 7A3 was a tiny bit stronger than Tour Spec 7.2, while the 6A4 is a tad softer tip side.

I have no clue about how they look compared to the later LZ model who is a different animal anyway, while the PX BLUE TI and Speeder was close and had a options both ways between them.

Maybe someone downloaded that chart i once made for a compare of PX Blue Tour issue and Fuji Speeder? Ive searched the net, even wayback machine, but i cant find it, but there is a copy on my disks down in Spain. (im up in Denmark for the summer, but dont go down to Spain before October and thats to late for you, so if anyone has that chart, please upload it.)

i found the numbers for PX BLUE, not for FUJI, so if you can find TIP and BUTT deflection numbers from Fuji (they was on their web), you can compare them with this numbers. Project X models and Fujikura is measured using the same equipment at the factory, so numbers is 100% compatible.

Fuji makes so many different models but here is 7.3 AND 6.3 in the bottom of this list.

Deflection numbers is the number of millimeter that shaft drops with a certain load, so higher number = more shaft bending or softer if you like, so now you can compare them as apples to apples.

To get the picture of who is the highest launching, we use Butt / tip deflection like this:

PX 7A3 - 88/74 = 1.19

PX 6A4 - 92/76 =1.21

TS 6.3X - 90/72 = 1.25

TS 7.3X - 93/69 = 1.34

The LOWER this number is the lower is launch (when over all flex is the same) and this models is very close, so PX 7A3 is on the paper the lowest launching of them. and TC 7.3 the highest launch or them (in a robot like Iron Byron)

Tell us how that worked, and if you got what you wanted, paper specs is not always "correct", but it gives us a good idea of what to expect.
