Will game a surlyn ball for giggles

My best score ever was with a Get Sum. May game it again. How bout you? Pick a non-urethane ball and report back here. The Project S deserves honorable mention too...

If the course is wet, I'll play an e6 soft instead of my stash of Tour B330 or ProV1. I really only notice a big difference in overall feel and shots around the green.

A few years ago, I hit into the junk on the 4th hole of my round, I found a Noodle while looking for my ball, and decided I would just play it till I lost it. It was just a casual round with friends, and I finished the front with a 41 which is normal for me. I got hot on the back and finished with a 37 to tie my all time low of 78. I've played em off and on since, and never came close to breaking 80 though.

I will occasionally in the spring when the ground is saturated, and the greens haven't been cut short, but honestly my short game shots just behave so differently in terms of trajectory and spin that I think it screws me up more than anything. even if I don't need the spin. I just feel like I am getting fliers off of clean lies, the ball just jumps sometimes.

I lost a horse race in a member guest not paying attention to the ball my partner threw me... hit the perfect chip for my provx.

I've typically played a surlyn ball and shot just as many low scores with it as a premium ball. I am trying out more urethane balls again though.

I can see why people don't want to switch back and forth or why they have problems with a surlyn after playing a urethane forever. But I believe the majority of the shots around the greens can be played with either as long as you know what the ball is going to do. When you factor in the number of times only a urethane will do and the actual conversion rate for an average golfer, I don't think the impact on score is as large as people make it out to be. Still a benefit if you can play one well though.

I’ll play surlyn like a Q Star or E6 when it’s wet and soggy or cold. But I’m a big believer in sticking with the same general type of ball during the main golfing season which is May-Sept here. The way I play the game I rely a lot on low spinning pitches and chips.

I could adjust to playing for more roll out and probably shoot just as well eventually but there are always going to be times when I could make a shot with a urethane ball and not a surlyn ball like being short sided over a bunker.

As I get older and the kids grow and things continue to get busier, my rounds get fewer and farther between each summer. Why would I willingly play a ball that limits my ability to control it on the golf course within my ability to do so?

Wilson Staff 50 Elite. Checks up far better than you'd expect out of it, decent distance (possibly because I don't touch 110+ anymore), and of course, it's soft.

Only real issue with it is dimple pattern and how it may play in the wind for those who have a higher trajectory. I sometimes saw issues along those lines. I also recognize it could be a L.O.F.T. issue.
