Cobra F9 fairway woods

CT10

Recommended Posts

I've recently purchased a 3wood and 5 wood in the cobra F9. While I really like them, I'd say as good as I've ever had as I'm not a great fairway wood player, my question is does anyone else notice that these fairways really cut up the golf ball, leaving slices in the balls! Has anyone else noticed this or have any ideas on this? The actual shots which each are really good, just the shredding of the ball is the issue. Thanks

I just had 2 members bring this issue up to me.

The edge of their F9 drivers, right at the end of the milled face, seems fairly sharp. They are both noticeably cutting up balls on mishits.

I haven't noticed at all with my F9. (Granted, I don't miss off the edge of the face often either.)

So, they're kind of panicking about it. Really don't have any advice for them...besides don't mishit it. :/

I guess we'll see what the Cobra rep has to say.

Same here. Love love love my driver and tour 3. No cuts at all.

I have been playing the driver and 3W all year and I have not noticed that. Guess I will start to pay more attention.

Had the driver, couldn't get it dialed in. Went back to the G400 Max. 3w is point and shoot, everytime.

Just this week I hit one low off the face with my F9 driver. When I looked at the face to see how low, there was a strip of urethane embedded in the speed channel. First time for me.

Have the 3 wood and haven’t noticed. It has been like hitting a 9 iron off the deck. So easy. And that muted thwack is magic. For some reason, I have struggled a little off the tee. The upright lie angle can cause some pulls.

I have the f8+ 3 wood which has pretty much the same face. No issues with it. I recently switched from Srixon to the new Titleist proV1. I haven’t ever played a more durable ball. Try one and see, I think you’ll find no issues with it.

The best thing about Cobra releasing the SpeedZone line is I can get the F9 fairways cheaper. I like everything about them. Sound at impact is as good as it gets and even the 3 wood is nimble off any lie. I get excellent distance and forgiveness. I like it as much as any FW I’ve ever played. Have yet to cut a ball, but I grew up in an era when any bad shot would mar or cut a balata ball so I consider balls these days to be indestructible by comparison.

Got a F9 3-4 wood a couple weeks ago. So far it's the best 3 wood I've hit in a long time. Easy off the deck due to shallow face and very long off the tee. The only negative is it's a bit too upright. Haven't noticed any cut balls.

I just got the F9 Tour as well. I put a Diamana White 70g in it instead of the Hzrdus Black, and it's so easy to hit off the deck. I'm now playing the Baffler that I've been using at 19* for now. I might drop it to 18.5* depending on the gapping I have between it and my 4 hybrid/iron spot in the bag.

Affirmative. I have not come across any easier. And that’s with the standard head. I usually dislike 3 woods that look too bulky on the ground. Lot of good players on here such as @Warrick have been raving about the smaller Tour heads from the time they came out and I will end up with one sooner or later, but the standard head I went with has launched great even with the loft left at 14.5. It is not large. I was and remain a big fan of the Callaway X2Hot line and I like these just as much. Played Pro head in those, standard in these.
Only change I’d make in mine is I have the Atmos Blue 7S (standard, not Tour Spec) and it can get a little wiggly on me if I jump on it vs older Diamana Blueboards and Whiteboards or Aldila Tour Blue or Green. I saw the reference to a Whiteboard by @jah7838 and I bet that club goes and goes.

The ball definitely jumps with the Whiteboard. I had 220 yards into a Par 5 my last round out, and flushed it dead left. It was plenty long enough, but wrong direction, lol. Got lucky and hit the trees and stayed in bounds. It was my fault on that swing, but some tee shots and shots off the deck during the round were quite a bit further than my Baffler when I was playing that at 16.5*. I actually have a Tour Blue 85 in my Baffler, and I'm thinking of trying out a Tour Blue 75 if I can find one for the right price in the 3 wood. It's such a stable shaft and the ball just gets up with not too much spin in my Baffler.

Without a doubt, they are. Yesterday, on a par 5, I had about 235 left from the rough, sitting down slightly took the 18.5 5w and I'm on in 2 pin high for eagle. This might be blasphemy, but the F9 5/6 is easier to hit, and longer than the F6 Baffler, and the F6 is firmly out of my bag now. The 3 and 5 are great, I couldn't get along with the driver, but the fairways aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

The fact that you're saying that it's easier to hit than the Baffler is pretty impressive. It's already an easy club to hit and elevate. I don't think the general golfing public realizes how good Cobra's woods are.
