I’m wondering if anyone has attempted something like this...

I’m failing to find a hybrid that I can hit as consistently (distance, dispersion) as my JPX 900 HM 4 iron to fill the gap between 4i and 3w. Has anyone ever tried to make a 3 iron?

The JPX 919 HM have 1* stronger lofts and are 1/4” longer than the 900. What if I ordered that 4 iron strengthened another degree and 1/4” longer? Then I’d have a ‘3 iron’ that is 1/2” longer and 2* stronger than my 4 iron.

Sure, I might prefer 3 degrees difference between them but might not want to screw with the design too much by bending that far.

Please discuss!

I just couldn’t do with two irons in the bag tagged “4” lol.

You will add offset and reduce the bounce.

To me I prefer very little offset at address plus I draw my iron as it is.

Reducing the bounce, I don’t see how that would assist you?

919 HM 4-iron spec is zero bounce so I’d say bounce change is not such a big deal? But I’m not an expert.

I have considered doing the exact same thing, I ended up going with a TaylorMade GAPR Mid, you can adjust the loft as needed

Thought about it as well, but that's a lot of bending - loft, lie and 2* wasn't enough of a gap for me. Then you start messing with SW by adding length....

I was really expecting to like the GAPR mid, but I tried one out and it felt like I was hitting lacrosse balls.

Next on my list are the Tour Edge iron-woods...

I had a tour edge iron wood, absolutely hated it, I usually like tour edge products, this felt like a cheap walmart club
